Hummm, I have mixed reaction to this tape. The dude doing his soap box oration is so much in love with the sound of his voice that he takes forever to make his point. Most of what he says is true, however. I only have a problem with him not acknowledging that a lot of young teen-aged black girls are impregnanted by OLDER black men who take advantage of their naivete. |

"The dude doing his soap box oration is so much in love with the sound of his voice that he takes forever to make his point. Most of what he says is true, however." I agree. He did make some hard hitting but very real points. I've seen the things he discussed countless times. He didn't lie. However, he did keep dragging on and on and on about the talking points he intended to discuss. He spent a 1/4 of the audio just regurgitating, "Now, I'm gonna talk about this...I'm gonna talk about this...but first..." I was wondering when he was going to get to his points. It was a little annoying...... |

I did not particularly care for his choice of words. Just saying your "... your momma wasn't shit..." does not really convey any information and just seemed to be used to as a device to incite the audience to show how "real" he is being. The whole presumption that Black folks have to curse to "keep it real" gets on my nerves too. Cynique, I'm inclinded to give the guy a pass on his presentation: I assume he is not a professional journalist/radio talk show host. It does not take an older dude to take advantage of a girl's naivete, young dudes are pretty skilled at doing this too. Few people are talking about the increasing number of women, who are in the late 30's (give or take a few years) and make the deliberate decision to have a baby on her own. These women are often financially self sufficent and have adequate familial support to help raise a child. But for whatever reason these women decide they want a child without a man in the picture... Should these women be including as a factor contributing to the destruction of the Black family? |

Yeah, it was a little raw. And yes, I did find myself laughing at his risque commentary about "yo momma wasn't shit". It was definitely a Rudy Ray Moore style lecture. "The whole presumption that Black folks have to curse to "keep it real" gets on my nerves too." This is true. It's a glaring example of how the coonish rap/hip-hop culture extols the virtues of thug life, prison time, cynicism and disdain for intellectualism and profanity as choice for Negroes who "keep it real". I saw an interview by an interesting young black man named Thomas Chetterton Williams about this very subject (he wrote an article in the Washington Post about it also) yesterday. "Cynique, I'm inclinded to give the guy a pass on his presentation: I assume he is not a professional journalist/radio talk show host." True. He was speaking in a harsh language that many Negroes relate to. I thought it was a little excessive with the profanity but many of the people who need to hear this are (unfortunately) very comfortable with this type of language. "It does not take an older dude to take advantage of a girl's naivete, young dudes are pretty skilled at doing this too." Ya got that right. There is a main thoroughfare street not far from where I live. As of late, it has been invaded by streetwalkers (they drove them away years ago but now they are back -in full force. The SDPD vice squad calls their.....errr.... mangers..."tennis shoe pimps". Why? Because the Negroes who are pimping these girls are very young (teenagers, yes, that's right -teenagers!) and don't even have cars! They wear sneakers! Explain that! "Few people are talking about the increasing number of women, who are in the late 30's (give or take a few years) and make the deliberate decision to have a baby on her own. " It's not as uncommon as you think. I met a black woman once who was shopping for a sperm/daddy. She told me what kind of guy she thought had the preferred genes. I just looked at her. |

I just feel that older black men ought to leave young under-aged girls alone. They're adult enough to know better. Isn't this guy a talk show host? He should be adept enough at his craft to be concise - if he chooses to. As long as women equate babies with objects from whom they will receive unconditional love, many women will, at some point, in their life decide to have one, no matter what their circumstances. |
