ERYKAH BADU TACKLES HER THIRD PREGNANCY CRITICS
Erkyah Badu addressed all the negative criticism of her third pregnancy with her current boyfriend Jay Electronica via a long entry on the Okay Player board.
To keep you up to speed, Erykah doesn't like the idea folks are making a big fuss over having a child out of wedlock. Erykah has a 10 year-old son Seven with her ex Andre 3000 and a daughter Puma with the D.O.C. Analoguegirl as Erykah goes by on Okay Player defended her pregnancy with rants like "Call Tyrone", "Kiss My Placenta", and "Kick Rocks." Many thanks to Necole Bitchie for scooping up this classic Erykah Badu rant! In spirit of this situation, I made a photo collage (see above) of Erykah with her children and her two famous men.

I PUT MUCH TIME AND THOUGHT INTO HAVING AND RAISING MY CHILDREN.
IVE HAD THE HONORS OF HAVING 2 HOME BIRTHS AND 2 WONDERFUL PARTNERS BY MY SIDE.
every relationship i have been in was because i loved the person DEARLY and was dedicated to us "exclusively" FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS.
the fathers of my children are my brothers and friends .
we have a great deal of respect for one another and always will.
WE LOVE OUR CHILDREN TO NO END.
we took our own "vows" and CONTINUE TO UPHOLD THEM.
AND THAT IS WHAT THAT IS .
question?
WHAT IS MARRIAGE ?
WHO IS THE JUDGE?
WE ONLY UNDERSTAND THE EXAMPLES WE ARE GIVEN ( well sort of)
WOULD IT "LOOK BETTER " TO MARRY AND DIVIORCE AND MARRY AGAIN ?
WOULD THAT BE MORALLY CORRECT ?
WHATS THE DIFFERENCE ? the government's involvement i guess.
IDEALLY , IT WOULD BE EXCELLENT TO FIND THE MAN OR WOMAN WHO FULFILLS YOUR SPIRIT AND STAY FOR EVER AND EVER ( thru sickness and health till death do us part ) AND HAVE HEALTHY STRONG CHILDREN AS A RESULT OF A HEALTHY AND STRONG UNION.
(this CAN happen ... we need much training , however.)
OR
IS IT REALLY "GOOD" TO STAY IN A RELATIONSHIP WHERE BOTH PARTIES ARE UNFULFILLED , LONGING FOR RELIEF , BRINGING one another down as a result of improper training , creating BAD ENERGY AND EXPERIENCES FOR THE CHILD TO REPEAT ?
(not to mention breeding deceit and anger and resentment )
SEEMS TO CREATE FEARFUL CHILDREN WHO TURN INTO FEARFUL ADULTS .
HOW MANY OF YOU GREW UP IN 2 PARENT HOMES THAT WERE MISERABLE AS •••• ?
OR 2 PARENT HOMES THAT WERE NOT PERFECT BUT WORKED?
HOW MANY GREW UP IN ONE PARENT HOMES WHERE THE MOTHER WORKED HARD TO MAKE SURE YOU WERE CARED FOR BUT SHE WASNT QUITE HAPPY?
HOW ABOUT A HOME WHERE THE FATHER WAS THE MAIN CARE GIVER AND DID THE BEST HE COULD -LACKING NURTURE?
HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE A SIBLING THAT HAS A DIFFERENT FATHER OR MOTHER?
DOES HE OR SHE MEAN LESS TO YOU?
HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE MORE THAN 1 MOTHER OR FATHER OF YOUR OWN CHILDren ?
HOW MANY OF YOU HAD /OR / ARE PARENTS RESPONSIBLE ENOUGH TO MAKE GOOD DECISIONS FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR CHILDREN ,THAT DONT QUITE FIT ANY OF THESE DESCRIPTIONS?
HOW MANY OF YOU STAY IN UNHEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS FOR FEAR OF GOING TO HELL?

No doubt. I saw Salma Hayek recently on Oprah's show bragging about her OOW birth. When Oprah asked her was she considering marrying the father, Hayek quickly dismissed the notion saying she felt no need to be married to the child's father even though she said he was the love of her life. An excellent message to send to young males: WE NEED THE SPERM TO MAKE THESE BABIES BUT A LEGALLY RECOGNIZED RELATIONSHIP WITH YOU IS OPTIONAL AND NOT NECESSARY. Oprah verbally high-fived her. Thank God our mothers and grandmothers did not operate under this tragic mindset.

I doubt if they consciously have decided to model their babymomma antics after Badu and Hill. Yeah ABM, I can see where Badu would be quite a handful. Reading her post reminded me of "the one who shall remain nameless" -- "HOW DARE YOU DISRESPECT THE QUEENDOM".... wow!
I don't get the impression that Badu's path to fullfilling her spirit is working. I think she would be better off (happier) having a more traditional family structure.
Her money and celebrity obviously affords her the ability to do things that the vast majority of us can not consider. I trust most women understand this and do not aspire to similiar goals.
"But she ain't messin' wit no broke niggas" begs another question....

I think the fact that she DID get so riled up about the criticsm suggests she might NOT be as happy about or proud of what she's done as she would have others believe she is.
She need to stop all the wayward babymaking, settled down with a HUSBAND (perhaps an older brutha who's already got kids so is NOT interested in making anymore) and seek some much needed, long overdue PSYCHIATRIC help.
PS: Honestly, though, as a straight-up MAYNE, I can't help thinking she must be somekinda lay. Because it's been my, uh, observation that a chick who as NUTS as she appear above usually has got some cQQchie that's off-the-CHAIN.

Remember when "shacking up" was a disgrace. A girl that got pregnant without being married was a family shame and the girl often took a trip to relatives.
Men that slept around with different women was the scourge of the town. Ward Clever, Mayberry, Roc, The Jeffersons, Good Times, Cosby etc.
Think about some of the top stars of today Oprah, Ellen,Brad & Angelina,Puffy,multi-baby mamma athletes, Halle, Nicole, Badu, Lauryn Hill etc. on & on. Times have changed and the same glamorous lie that rich thug images sells is being sold as the wonderful world of unwedded bliss with and without children.
It is said that a fish rots from the head. These less than shiny examples do a good job of drowning out the voices of those that try to stem the tide. They live fabulous globe hopping lives while those that go down the same path find themselve in a lifelong struggle and the children suffer.
