I usually try to avoid reading about the going ons of rappers. My tolerance for the stereotypical demonization of Black men can go but so far. But while reading today's newspaper, a DOOZY caught my eye.
I am sure some of you already know this: Fifty Cents babymomma is currently suing him for, ironically, FIFTY Millions Bucks!
That's only mildly interesting. But what I was struck by is that she is asserting claim to this fortune based on Fifty alleging to have promised to give her HALF of EVERYTHING he will EVER earn in his LIFETIME.
I dayamnear fell out of my chair when I read that.
A chick he had ONE kid with, one he never even married is claiming to be entitled to HALF of everything dude will EVER earn?
I can't help wondering WTF is the basis upon which Fifty would make such an offer and am AGHAST by how a court apparently feels that her outlandish claim is actually worthy of consideration. |

ABM, first off you know the newspaper you were reading wrote to the story to get just the reaction it got from you.
Next even if it were true, you know these laywers always ask for more, up front, that they ever expect to get.
Now Fiddy is gonna have too get up off some paper, to take care of his kid. I sure he won;t have relinquish $50MM + 50% of future revenues.
In reality, the whole situation is obsurd from the two of them making a baby, to the coverage in the news, to the burden on the courts. And I guess, in some sense, this obsurdity extends to our discussion... |

Hello fellows
I was hesitant about joining in after reading Troy's show stopper "this obsurdity extends to our discussion" but hey, that's what we do. Anyway, the way I see it, Fifty could have averted this whole mess if he would have just keep giving her 50...
R. Kelly wrote a song about it. How did it go? Something about his 12 thang...something like that *smile*. And Damn, Fifty got 50  . I know he is not Bobbit but ol'girl gettin ready to cut off a little of that... |

Troy,
Did she teach him to rap? Write, arrange or produce any of his song? Help him get his first record deal?
If she didn't do ANY of the above and they never married, what the hell is the basis for her being entitled to ANYTHING of the man EXCEPT child support?
And PLEASE tell me this ain't about Palimony. Because that right there is one of the dumbest, most manhatingest law (this side of husbands being denied notification their wives have aborted their kids) we men were dumb enuff to allow on the books. |

(This is a tactic. You ask for the moon and that gives you room to negotiate down. Also this will let him and his peoples know she means bizness.
She probably got some juicy crap that she can blackmail his ass with if he don't come across.
Personally I don't care if she takes him for all he's worth. He is too stupid to have any money anyways) |

For somebody who is always dismissing the pop culture scene, viewing it with all of your out-of-date 1950 notions that today's free-wheeling celebs still do things to "keep up appearances", you seem to be unable to resist following the lives of the rich and famous, crissy. And your banal comments put you on the same level as the stars you criticize.  |

In the 50's and 60's,we BELIEVED celebrities fakery--like we thought Rock Hudson and Tab Hunter were straight.
Do you think Michael Jackson is all forthcoming about what he does with the little boys, or Eddie Murphy with the trannies?

Eddie and Michael responses to their indiscretions had nothing to do with them being celebrities. Anybody would try and deny perverted behavior.
But your frequent "banal" remarks about celebrities who, because they are famous, just doing things to cover up what they are really doing is just tired ol stuff said by people who think everybody is easily fooled but them. |
