Latinas say Hillary Rodham Clinton's strength is what swayed their votes They called it loyalty. Or solidarity. Or familiarity. That's how many Latinas described their enthusiasm for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and why they voted for her in greater numbers than other demographic groups in Tuesday's Texas primary. Statewide, Mrs. Clinton edged out Sen. Barack Obama, 51 percent to 47 percent. But she enjoyed even greater margins among Latino elders: almost 80 percent of them age 60 and over voted for her. As historians and political scientists sit down to analyze the data and try to explain why the former first lady enjoys so much support from Hispanics, some Dallas supporters believe they already know. "La Hillary" is indefatigable – and many Latinas relate strongly to that kind of persistence. Several of the older women who attended rallies in Dallas and Fort Worth told me they identified with Mrs. Clinton because they see her as being " muy fuerte," or very strong and tenacious. Mr. Obama carried several large urban centers, such as Dallas County, 61 percent to 38 percent, and Tarrant County, 54 to 45. But exit polls and data show that Mrs. Clinton had heavy support in those areas of the state with large Hispanic populations, including San Antonio, El Paso and South Texas. Dallas precincts with Hispanic majorities voted overwhelmingly for her. Chances are that if you are a Hispanic woman, older than 45, and Catholic, you probably voted for Mrs. Clinton. Latino voters, in general, showed they were excited about this election and turned out – as predicted – in greater numbers than ever before in a primary. About 32 percent of the statewide vote was Latino, according to the Pew Hispanic Center. About 66 percent of them chose Mrs. Clinton over Mr. Obama, who garnered only about 33 percent of their vote, according to state exit polls. About 65 percent of Texas Catholics and 57 percent of women voted for her. Dallas City Council member Pauline Medrano, who stumped alongside the Clintons throughout the Dallas area, recounted sceneswhere Latina elders showed their affection for the Clintons. Las viejitas would thrust rosaries at them and tell them they were saying novenas (nine days of prayers and special devotion) for them, she said. There was also confusion about the next step in the process. "One guy told me his mother called and asked him, 'Dónde queda la calle caucus?' " or where is Caucus Street, she said. "It's a word that doesn't translate well." But actions, more than words, helped Mrs. Clinton connect with Hispanic voters. Where Mr. Obama appeared remote and inaccessible at rallies held in huge convention centers, the Clintons were campaigning at parks, schools and community areas populated largely by Hispanics. Ms. Medrano recalled an 83-year-old woman at a Grapevine rally who insisted on meeting former President Bill Clinton. Once he greeted her, the woman cradled his face with her hands, and then did something many of us have seen our grandmothers do before we leave home: She blessed him with the sign of the cross on his forehead. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/localnews/columnists/molivera/sto ries/DN-olivera_08met.ART.North.Edition1.46762d0.html |

Latinos prefer Hillary because she's White (Hispanics are becoming America's new bootlinkin' niggers) and because bigwig Latinos who can dictate to dumba$$ Hispanics whom they should vote for are Clintonian a$$kissing synchophants. |

Whew! Why so hostile, brotha?? What's gotten into you??? "...and because bigwig Latinos who can dictate to dumba$$ Hispanics whom they should vote for are Clintonian a$$kissing synchophants." And a monolithic Black vote is somehow smarter and healthier? Of course not! Atleast their vote is somewhat diverse. The Hispanics vote is 66% for Clinton and 33% for Obama. Blacks are voting a whopping 90% for one candidate, as usual, (and somehow they expect change, gol!, what a farce!).

Fuhk diversity. If +90% of Blacks want Obama to be president, that's their right and privilege. NOBODY else have had to think and do what Black foks have had to think and to survive in this country. I don't give ANY credence to comparisions to HISPANICS, mofos who very comfortably reap the benefit of Black foks have had to march, fight, bleed and die to create and maintain. Hell. It's because of what BLACK foks have done these fool so Hispanics, Asians and the rest of the next-generation niggers can have a right to vote at all. Don't feed my no business about Hispanics thinking that Hillary is somehow tougher than Obama. That's bvllshyt of astronomical proportion. Look at where Hillary has come from (riding the coattails of her HUSBAND and crying on cue) and where Obama comes from THEN I doubledare a SANE person to declare that she is somehow tougher than he his. You need the cut the sh*t here, Tonya. Because you know dayam well when Obama said or did anything even remotely aggressive against Hillary that chick cries (like a lil' ol' b*tch) and then he get made out to be the evil, mean BLACK man who wants to beat up on poor, defenseless old White women. As far as I'm concern, Hispanics, Asians and other non-Whites can do what they've always done: Sit quietly and meekly sit their punka$$es on the sidelines while Blacks and Whites decide WTF this country is suppose to do and be. |

WOW! Kinda harsh assessment of fellow Americans. As for the Latinos, they must have done someting right because they settled and named most of California. Guess you have never been to Los Angeles, or San Francisco or San Diego or Goleta or Santa Barbara or...?? *smdh* |

"you know dayam well when Obama said or did anything even remotely aggressive against Hillary that chick cries (like a lil' ol' b*tch) and then he get made out to be the evil, mean BLACK man who wants to beat up on poor, defenseless old White women." No, actually, we took our fight to the media. ...because that's who this race is really against, the media. Mr. Obama is a NONENTITY without the media. And I don't mean that in a bad way! Ohhh pleeease don't say it's being too critical!!! ....(*Shakin' in my boots!*)

Tonya, Typical, trite commentary. *yarn* Tell us all why, out of the Blue, the WHITE press all by their lonesome decided to deify a largely unknown Black politician. Why did they not, instead, do that to Edwards, Kucinich, Biden, Dodd or Richardson? And if it's just some sort of magical kneegrow phenomenon, why didn't such happen with prior Black presidential candidates? Oh. And is that the SAME media that, just three months ago, proclaimed Hillary that should win the nomination going away? |

Well, ladies, obviously ABM's erratic frustration is fueled by emotion, leaving him to drag out ol stale arguments and distorted implications that don't apply to this unique situation. There is no precedent for this contest. In a campaign promising "change", a "change" has already occurred and all bets are off. |

Tonya, Typical, trite commentary. *yarn* Yeah, and your ugliness has been ground-breaking and unique (rollineyes). "Tell us all why, out of the Blue, the WHITE press all by their lonesome decided to deify a largely unknown Black politician." Out of the blue??? The press has been propping up their preferred candidate for EONS now. They've also been killing off the candidates they HATE for the same amount of time, and they clearly HATE Hillary with a senseless PSYCHO passion. This ain't even about Obama, apparently. It's a creepy deep-seated hatred for all things Clinton, apparently, that's it. And how is Barack H*****n Obama a "largely unknown Black politician"?? The man's been on our televisions NONSTOP----ever since he gave that stupid speech in 2000. He was a speech making rockstar before he entered this race, and he's an even bigger one right now. If you're an earthling and you're a living breathing one, you may not know WTF "change" is, or all about, but you KNOW who this "Blk politician" is by now. Why did they not, instead, do that to Edwards, Kucinich, Biden, Dodd or Richardson? They weren't big enough rockstars.

Tonya, When the media make the Clinton's release their income tax returns, maybe we can talk about who's getting the preferential treatment. Until then, you Clintonian synchophants need to snack on some STFU samiches. |

Hillary will release her tax returns. But what do Obama supporters expect to see? Something that would cause her to drop out of the race? It's laughable. |

I think people just want to know where a Senator would get 30 million to loan herself...An ex prez and a senator just got it like that? And if so, why the resistance from the ex-prez to keep their finances secret? Why the "Ken Star(r?) subterfuge? |

Hillary loaned her campaign $5 million, not $30 million. And who is to say when that income was earned? Maybe she earned it and reported it eight years ago... I just don't understand what tax returns are supposed to prove. Anyone can make their tax returns say anything... It is the American way...

Well if it's that simple, why not quell all the rising suspicion and just produce the return? Why all the stonewalling? Stinks like rotten fish.
