A photo showing Barack Obama dressed in Somali garb is being circulated by campaign staffers working for Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, according to DrudgeReport.com.
FOX News is working to confirm the report.
The photo was taken in 2006 during a trip through Africa. Obama was dressed as a Somali elder during a visit to southwestern Kenya, said the Drudge Report, which said a Clinton staff member had provided the photo to the Web site.
According to Drudge, the unnamed campaign staffer said: “Wouldn’t we be seeing this on the cover of every magazine if it were HRC,” short-hand for the candidate, Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Obama, a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, has repeatedly fended off attacks that he is a Muslim. But the attacks have been decried by both candidates: One Clinton campaign volunteer was asked to step down after forwarding an e-mail containing that rumor.

The only reason this is an issue is because Senator Obama tries to distance himself from black people. He is attempting to be the "President of All America" not just black people, his supporters say.
Senator Obama should embrace Minister Farrakhan and thank him for his support, the he would any other religious leader.
BTW, Ralph Nadar referred to Senator Obama as a "liberal evangelist" Perfect description. |

And I've never heard anyody running for president who didn't make the sappy claim that they wanted to be president of all Americans. Who would want to be president of just some Americans, anyway? Where's the power there? Does Hillary just want to be president of white women over 40?
Why don't Obama groupies come up with something other than empty slogans when voicing their support for Obama. With his power to both intoxicate and to offer a cure for hang-overs, it would be more accurate if they just said that he's their drug of choice.  |

Cuz that's all they got to go on. Sad, but it's the honest to god truth. Barack Obama still hasn't said who he is, and he won't. That's why he uses the ambiguous rhetoric. If he tell the truth about who he is he'd lose a lot of Black and democratic voters. He'd lose almost all of his Black support.
I’d say he’s a player but I think folks are just desperate.

obama should have used that picture to his advantage, EVERY elected official does something in a foreign country relating to the country's custom when they are on a visit. hell even regan's punk ass was sporting a russian hat when he was in moscow.
but i can understand why he is touchy about it, i too have received emails where people are saying he's muslim and emphasizing his middle name.

This is very true. Black candidates generally will be peppered with one race question after another (from whites and blacks). It is done to clear the fog of race ambiguity around the candidate. For whites, he must be race neutral or indifferent. For blacks, he must be brazenly strident in his race loyalty (keepin’ it real!!). And if a candidate is perceived as a race ideologue in either direction (a Larry Elder clone -to the right or Al Sharpton emulator -to the left), he or she will be hammered by either whites or blacks for racial incorrectness.
If a black candidate has any serious hopes of being electable, he or she must present a position of racial moderation and distance him or herself from lightening rod race figures (e.g. Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, Louis Farrakhan, Malik Shabazz, et al). And it doesn't matter if you think this is a good or bad strategy (selling out?). It must been done if one is to have widespread general appeal.
Obama has been pretty good at this so far because the press has not been very hard on him (yet) nor has he been linked to any so called radical black entities or persons. Although I did see Sean Hannity produce a depressing black stooge on his FOX news channel program who attempted to create a questionable race quagmire for Obama by questioning his association with a so-called Afrocentric church. It was a cynical white conservative cheap shot at politically smearing the man with the help of a pathetic Negro dupe. Right wing talk radio propagandists and bloggers were salivating with glee at this attempt. It’s not over.
Finally, Obama has undeniable appeal to a lot of people. But the real test is acquiring the Democratic presidential nomination (in progress -that will be determined very shortly) and getting the thumbs up from the overhaul American public for occupancy of the White House. If he resorted to what could be perceived as racial demagoguery or pro-black rhetoric, he could kiss any serious bid for POTUS goodbye. Again, it doesn't matter if you like or not –PRESIDENTIAL ELECTABILITY CANNOT BE ACHIEVED BY ANY BLACK CANDIDATE WHO ALIENATES WHITES. No one is ever going to be elected as president by black votes alone...!!!!!! Sorry about that but colored folks just don’t have the numbers. Done……….

Senator Obama met recently with Jewish leaders to assure them he is pro-Israel. Please provide a link for a similar meeting with Black ministers other than in South Carolina.
During and after Antonio Villarogsia's campaign for mayor, he would not hesitate to be loud and proud in front of any crowd, "Si Se Pueda" (?) He was not fearful of "alienating" the white folks (or anyone else) who voted for him. Antonio's message was "Latinos I am with you!"
I just wish Senator Obama could be as forthright when dealing with black people particularly since black folks are the people voting for him en masse. Senator Obama is not the warm and fuzzy type I guess...he seems really distant and cold. |
