Obama's, list is too substantive, so I'll mainly categorize. During his elected service he's sponsored over 820 bills. He introduced 233 regarding healthcare reform, 125 on poverty and public assistance, 112 crime fighting bills, 97 economic bills, 60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills, 21 ethics reform bills, 15 gun control, 6 veterans affairs and many others. His first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These inculded **the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 - became law, **The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, - became law, **The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate, **The 2007 Government Ethics Bill, - became law, **The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, In committee, and many more. In all, since entering the U.S. Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096. An impressive record, for someone who supposedly has no record according to some who would prefer that this comparison not be made public. He's not just a talker. He's a doer.

calm down, calm down. You don't want me to have to call on a certain professional book editor to neutralize your hysteria and put you in your place. Just lay that old script aside and take a deep breath. You'll be fine |

Madame Cynique, I didn't know you were an American Idol junkie, too. Who looks good to you? So far, I really like Aisa'h and Ramiele from the girls; the only guy I'm feeling is Aussie Michael Johns. But he's 29, IIRC, which I think will limit his appeal with teenie boppers. |

Hi Urban Scribe! As this latest season begins, I'd describe myself as more of an America Idol viewer than a junkie. I've become a little jaded by the predictibility of the show and by the role-playing judges. Or have I gotten the names matched to the faces yet because last night it just seemed like a procession of young blond white girls with a few sistas interdespersed between, a couple of whom I kinda liked. As for the guys, the jury is still out on them soon, too. I'll start getting more into the show when personalities begin to stand out and it gets down to the final 10. |

A_woman, I am not sure where folks here were saying Sen. Clinton's experience was "better" than Sen Obama's. But as she has been there longer, it stands to reason she'd have more to show for her time there. Then she has had other experience outside of government that should not be ignored. What I think is fair game is people wanting her to either (a) stop claiming her time as First Lady as relevant experience, or (b) if she is going to claim it, come clean and release records detailing her specific involvement. It is also fine, as far as I am concerned for people (e.g., Black people) to ask her what her opinion is about some of the detrimental (to Blacks) decision her husband made during his administration--not because he is her Mister, but because she has used his star-power to campaign for her. I also think it is fair to claim that in her case "experience" may represent the "same 'ole same 'ole" that we need to get away from, and thus "more" does not equal "better." |

Too bad you can't find something better to wrack your brain about, chrishayden, than to figure out what I should be doing. What a sorry empty life you must lead. But it's not surprising considering how repulsive you are. Maybe you and Yvette and a-woman should start grooming Obama as a candidate for American idol on the outside chance that he might lose the presidential race. |

Well, I've never heard him sing. I have seen him do That Dance--you know, the one you all do when you're in mixed company with folks you do not know tht well and trying to be professional so you really don't just let loose? LOL Seriously though, if Sen Obama loses, IMO he really doesn't "lose"--particular if he loses via political/delegate maneuvering. He will have proven himself to be well organized, well liked, well connected/endorsed--and most of all, a rainmaker who can energize the grassroots. His stature will only increase in the political realm, and all he'd have to do is bide his time until next time... |

The same could be said of Hillary. After all, there are still millions of Americans who do like her, and have voted for her and others may be inclined to give her a shot if Obama ends up losing because he couldn't pull it off. |

Cynique, I find that a little bit more of a stretch. Sen. Clinton did not do a good job of managing her campaign (including campaign $), she clearly had more first and second hand knowledege of how the political game yet still managed many miscalculations, and there was already much talk before she even ran that she was "divisive." More was expected of her (fairly or unfairly). So if she loses, it will be more of a disappointment and prove her nay-sayers right. Less was expected of Obama, so it is easier for him to surpass expectations, even in a loss. That is not to say many folks (at least, many Dems) would still vote for her in a general election should she be the candidate. But I do think that Obama "gains" more even in a loss than she would. |

Well,in all probablity Hillary would change her tactics should she run again and that her image might change should she be gracious enough to campaign for Obama. And if Obama doesn't make it, he will be saddled with the "loser" label. |

BTW, word around Chicago is that Obama's back up plan in case he loses any of these contentests or elections is to run for the Governor of Illinois. The present one is very unpopular and, of course, Illinois loves Obama. |
