Ah, to go from the sublime to the ridiculous. He lost out for best album to----Herbie Hancock? The Grammy voters hate his ass! |

I was not a fan of Herbie's album that he won for, though I adore him as an artist. But I must say this: loooooooved his acceptance speech! LOL |

I've always loved, Herbie. He's got an incredible music resume and was very young when his parents allowed him to go to NY and become part of a jazz group. And, of course, he is from Chicago. Kanye is such a ham and is so childish. |

I just caught a few minutes of Kanye last night singing a song to his mother. I could have cried. According to a lot I've read on the internet, some chick named Winehouse won a lot. I've never heard anything by her. Have you guys? |

OH, puleeze. Do you ever read the paper or listen to the news? Amy Winehouse is an industry joke. She's the English version of Linsey Lohan and Brittany Spears. The title of the song she wrote and which won as record of the year was "Rehab". |

amy winehouse cds are hot, hot, hot .... better than what the r&b girls are putting out here lately, keisha coles, mjb, alicia keys name one... amy's cd is better than it's worth a listen to if you haven't heard it. the one thing you have to do though, you have to treat her music like you'd treat michael jacksons... you have to separate the artist from their music or otherwise you can't really enjoy it. |

Yes, Dobes, Kanye is from Chicago, too, but I like jazz better than rap. And, yes, the industry does regard Amy as talented; just crazy. I see she got her some black dudes backin her up. BTW, the mega bucks lottery is up to 150 million.

I watch as little TV as possible (we don't even have cable....why pay for crap tv?), papers are depressing, I can't even stand radio anymore. Doberman, would you say her cd is as good as, better than, or not as good as Wyclef Jean's "The Carnival"? |

Glad to see Herbie Hancock win an award. I have no personal use for the music he currently indulges but the man is a fantastic artist. If you want to listen to him at the height of his playing abilities, just sample a number of his wonderful Blue Note recordings and his stint on Columbia with the Miles Davis quintet (Wayne Shorter, Ron Carter, Miles and Tony Williams). He has done a few trio recordings over the years that are also very nice. In 1978, he made a direct-to-disc LP solo, called "The Piano" (Columbia Legacy). This recording was released only in Japan. It's never been available in the United States in any format till now. Highly recommended.
