I find it disturbing to see the kind of thoughts on Obama coming from his own people. It's one of our faults that being educated, intelligent and articulate is ridiculed. Some of the same people making those comments will complained when blacks are portrayed as thugs and prostitutes by hollywood and in music videos. When a real live example of a cohesive black family comes along with a man, wife and children in a family unit, they get slammed for not being black enough or too soft. This man is running for President of the United States, not head of a gang. I came from simple rural black roots in the south and managed to get an education from an HCBU in business. I have worked in the south all of my life. I have worked my professional life in majority white environment in high end sales of technology. A black person that is going to be successful in that environment has to know how to navigate that environment without self-destructing. Black people carry their heritage and identity on their face and in their soul. We all know what will play where. Why do you thing Jesse and Al had kept a low profile. They understand that they are lightning rods and would hurt Obama's chances. What is happening to Obama is the Clinton's are slowly turning an intelligent Harvard educated black man into the Willie Horton of 2008. Sadly some of us applaud. |
