I basically blew up my website and rebuilt it. I came to the realization that it had hit the wall and the old layout could not do what I needed with all of the various types of book formats I had out now. It's funny to realize that what I had just could not be modified any longer and the best thing was to start from stratch. I'm sure that I wiil make some changes to the new site, but it seems to be less busy and more simply laid out. I'm trying to get to more of a portal than a site. Please visit and give me some feedback. www.DTPollard.com |

Hey man I cruised the site a bit. I can relate to having to rebuild a site. There are some many things that have to come together to make a site happens -- it is a wonder so many people do it. I see you are not finished so I can't really comment too much because a lot is missing; but I'll give you a few comments: I would change the menu bar at bit. - Consolidate the books into a single link on the menu. If you write any more books you'll be adding addiitonal items to the menu which will get cumbersome. - On the menu bar I would rename "DTPollard - Candlelight" to simply "Home" - Drop the candlelight logo from the pages or at least link it with descriptive alt text. It took me a minute to figure out what that meant (I had to look at the other pages on the site) -Change "News" to "Press Releases" and be sure I assume you'll be adding links to the releases - change "Read Responsibly - Energy Impact" to "Articles" again you may want to link to more articles and you won;t be adding additional menu items to do this. - Your favorite links page is missing a couple of links ;-) - Lose the hit counter on all the pages (that is so 90's) - take photo and bio off homepage and add to to the "About the author" page - rework the homepage a bit. think about what you want visitors to "get" right away and develop content for the page around that idea. |

Troy, thanks for the feedback. I have incorporated some of your suggestions and the site does appear sleeker. I added a few links also. www.DTPollard.com |

This is the thing with a website. Hot websites change daily, several times a day in fact. You gotta keep up the novelty. Keep it going. |
