I invite you to read a very unique piece of African American fiction. It involves white supremacists infiltration and the fight for the very soul of America. The following is one description of the novel.
Covert racism and murder in the hallowed halls of acdemia are center stage in the suspense thriller FUHRER'S HEART: AN AMERICAN STORY by James D. Ward. Set in the New Orleans academic world and inspired by the David Duke era in Louisiana politics, FUHRER'S HEART combines suspicious deaths, action, conspiracies and sex with a mix of racial tension and political intrigue.
The New Orleans GAMBIT WEEKLY calls the novel "a quick and engaging read that presents an insight into how racism has endured through the ages."
According to the NORTHEAST MISSISSIPPI DAILY JOURNAL, "FUHRER'S HEART is a courageous, even-handed attempt to remind us that evil still lurks in the most unexpected places and in the most unexpected ways."
Angelia Menchan of APOOO BOOKCLUB says FUHRER'S HEART "has all the components for a thrilling, suspenseful story.
One of the main characters, a young African-American named Michael Woods, achieves his dream of earning a doctoral degree in an effort to escape the working class background of his family, former cotton pickers in the rural South. After graduation, he is recruited by New Orleans' prestigious Institute for Public Policy that has been secretly infiltrated by white supremacists.
FUHRER'S HEART is a novel written about racism in academia by an author who knows the territory very well, according to another reviewer.
