Question... I need a website. Now, do I just go to domain.com and get one. It says $6.95 for a year.. isn't that a good rate? Is there anything else I need to know. |

You'll need to get a host, and of course, a web designer (unless you have those skills yourself). I use HostMonster for my blog. |

What does that mean... a host? What does a host do? My son is pretty good with web design, so I'm guessing he can do that part. |

A web host owns the server on which your website resides. Imagine the Internet as a big neighborhood; you want to build a house somewhere. The web host owns the "street" where you build your house. The domain name is like your house; you own it. You can move it to another street if you like. But web hosts own the streets. |

Ohhhhh! So I have to pay for a domain name and the web host, correct? What is an approximate normal amount to pay? And do I pay them both monthly? Thanks bunches! |

so I checked out Hostmonster, the one you told me about and it says $6.95 per month and the domain is included. Is that all I need? And I don't need to go get a domain? That's not near $150-$200 per year... am I missing something? Thanks homegirl! |

Nope, you're not missing anything, lol. I asked my boyfriend for that original figure yesterday, and he was thinking about other, more expensive hosts. |

I use homestead which only charges 4.95 a month. You can buy your domain name through them, and they have over 2000 designs ready for your use. |

Before I started my very first website, I had absolutely no experience at all but I'm telling you Yahoo Sitebuilder is so user friendly. It provides a short tutorial and you can even get it for about $7.95 for the first year. The Yahoo customer support team is WONDERUL. When ever I run into problems of kind they walk me step by step through them. Take a look at my site, I feel pretty good about it. www.3pministries.com. Hope this info is helpful in getting you started. |
