Hello All,
I just finished up the last book in the Easy Rawlins series, Blonde Faith. I have been putting it off for a while because, I aint going to lie, I hate to Easy go. By the time I got to the end of the book, I got depressed. I damn near cried! I got upset and stayed upset. And in the light of a new day, I am STILL upset! So, if any of you see that Walter Mosley, you tell him for me that HE BROKE MY HEART AND NEVER TO SPEAK TO ME AGAIN!!!

I read Blonde Faith and I definitely see what you're saying about the way it ended. I was kind of hoping, though, that, since we never really confirmed that Easy was a goner, per say, he was going to find his way out of the ashes, if you will. I thought Mosley sort of left it open to speculation a little bit. But if he didn't and this is really it, I'm pissed, too. |

Yeah. All those Easy Rawlins books are told in the first person.
How'd he tell them and who'd he tell them to if he's dead.
Moseley will probably pull a Conan Doyle if enough fans holla (and his wallet starts getting light) |

Chris: I wonder if Mosley is going to pull a Conan Doyle too. I dont know about your point of it being told in the first person means that Easy has to be alive in order to tell the story. I'm sure you've read books which were narrated by characters who died. |

(Mostly supernatural and surreal.

I don't know...I'm kind of with Chrishayden on this, because that's a good point. How can a dead person be talking? LOL. Easy gone be all banged up and looking upside the wall and he'll have to have extensive physical therapy and he'll end up "knowing" his therapist for a minute or two and then he'll be off and at 'em again...
I have to hold on to hope here. If this is the end, Mosley could've come harder than that, as finales go. I hope he would've given us more bang as we see Easy off for the last time. Besides that, Easy prob'ly gone retire and die of natural causes (if he ain't already retired, and that's really how he's narrating the adventures of his life to us and we haven't figured it out yet). That's how all those cats croak...been dodging bullets all their lives and then they die of aggravated gangrene. |

Actually I did tell someone. In fact it was a member of Thumper's Corner. I came to visit my daughter and she lives near this city so we had lunch. I'd better talk with her before I mention anything else. She might not want the world to know she was hanging out with me. Plus I have a bad habit of highjacking threads. I should maybe call it an event like Troy does and post it under some book expo type thang. We did talk about books and there were black folks all around however no one of importance. We did have to run off a bum type dude. You know the type that carries his bed everywhere he goes.

Well Ms. Little, it appears that you are growing. Thumper is the man and if anyone can holler at ol'boy Thump is the one. As a matter of fact, you sit tight, you know, that children are to been seen thang.
Now let me pull your coat on something. You know A_Womon and I go way back. She's been trying to tell you something. I peeped her trying to sooth your wounds. She's been through the storm but she's still here. The guys be jumping on her sometimes but she generally handles her business. Every once in a while she starts that crying mess, "why y'all pickin' on me" then she wants to cry on me. Yeah, when she gets bored she'll hit me. And lawd, y'all think she can get it on up in here. Let me tell you, the women has bent my ears for hours. Anyway, stay close, she might put you up on something BUT don't pick up everything she drops.

Naw, Li Li, he done made me MAD! And den when I come here, the one place I thought I could be some support, some kind of understandin, and Cynique goes and makes fun of my pain and heartbreak! *sniff* *sniff* Why I had to close all my drapes (well, I don't have drapes I have shades and they are all ready closed because of the heat but that's beside the point) and I had to take to my bed with my cable remote, sugar free cough syrup and lavender water to get over the injury Mosley inflicted and

There is such a thing as Lavender water. It's an eau de cologne made in France that has the scent of certain flowers. It contains alchohol and exudes a refreshing effect.
Now I hope I have redeemed myself with you, Thumper, after offending your sensibilities by not feeling your pain over the fate of EZ Rawlins.  |
