I've had time to check out some of the post over the year and it became glaringly clear that the old and new have paid an intregal part in the amusement, entertainment, information and survival of the board. Really, all types of opinions and styles have contributed. From authors to old schoolers. My hat goes off to CYN-CYN and Chris, they've had some memorable battles. A_women has always been exciting. Mzuri came through with a storm. Emanuel brings his own thang. Nels represented....Connie Briscoe dived in. Hen81 brings a briefcase and takes a seat. Roynmarie had a strong voice. Soul_Sister is forever present. Urban-Scribe can be expect to drop a little something. Troy is always perched with his lasso...gotta bring it home sometimes...foul things sometimes drops out of the mouth of a few...Troy's delete button still works.....seldom used but it still works. Sisgal can't stay away, she's strong yet quite...most of the time, she's mellowed over the years. Crystal has been around...can always depend on her to add some excitement. Sese is always present....few posts...many years...quite thunder. Ferociuskitty has blasted on the scene, Tonya never sleeps and the board would be less without her presence. Yvette seems to be the inhouse editor/lawyer, has great writing skills...she seems to stay put. Steve has always been steve...quite yet effective. LiLi brings an Old school cool to the place. Encryption brings her own magic to the house...I like messing with her. That Tyler Perry thread was the s**t. Y'all got it on. I wish I was around for that one. Nope...not going to voice a view....nope...even though my conviction on that issue are very clear in my mind I am going to leave that one alone. I have some very hardfast rules when it comes to movies and.......nope.....ain't going to do it. Again, my hat goes off to everyone that has contributed to the board for the last...years. I like the style of those that cut and paste. I just wish they wouldn't be so long...or at least let me know if I am in for a 10 minute read....well...I seldom read that far....I am lazy and unless it's really mezmerizing...after 3-4 paragraphs I am done. Nevertheless, that sort of input is of great value. If we all sat around and post a bunch of mess like mine we'd be in trouble. I think most would be surprised at the number of people that read and seldom post. So thanks everyone! |

Interesting observation Carey. I recall, years ago, thinking Yukio was a woman. I only discovered this only when someone else on the board made the same mistake you did. They too were called on it, but I just kept mum. I met Yukio, by chance, in Jay Z's 40-40 club in NYC last year -- defintely a dude. At every BEA. I meet lurkers. They won't ever come out of the closet but it is interesting, always, to meet a lurker in the flesh and hear what they have to say about the boards. |

Yeah, Yukio, that was a big topic of discussion. He took it well. I remember your post about your meeting with the young man. It stood out because of the price list....yeah BIG BALLERS! I just want to be your driver or something...huh...can I get a job? I loved to talk to a few lurkers. All the when, whys, what and who, would be a great conversation. |

Hello Cyn-Cyn Yep, Just the other night a friend called because she was stuck at her mothers house and mom wasn't even trying to get out in it. So I put on my Superman cap and headed out. My mind was a little confused because I didn't see my car. About a half block down I noticed my car peaking it's head around what looked like a bunch of mud and trees. I looked back toward my house and to the left of it a hill had collapsed. It had taken my car with it! I called my friend and told her. I thought she would say okay I'll talk with you tomorrow, she said, " your kidding, that's wierd, what time do you think you will be here to pick me up?"....women, you gotta love'em. After digging my car out, I headed towards her mother's house. She and her mother live in Illinois. Her home is about a mile from a river called the Rock river. Again, she's not in a flood zone so I thought we'd be cool. Notta...we had to do the old take the shoes off and rollup the pants. I was trying to be the leader, you know the cool strong black man leading his lady to safety but let me tell you. I took my shoes off and started walking and then the sissy came out of me *lol*. all sorts of wiggly things were moving pass my feet. See, I had on a pretty nice pair of sneakers and I ain't rich but s**t, them bad boys was about to get soaked. Now I don't know about all black women but everytime lightning hit she would scream like hot coals where being dropped on her head. She started ducking, screaming and pulling on me. The ducking and screaming wasn't a problem but when she started to pull me down things had to change. I put on my most serious face and told her not to do that! See, I can swim put this wasn't your nice backyard pool. OHHHH NO, this was like the playground for snakes and raccoons. I saw one coon float by with a toothbrush, he gave me a nod and kept right on floating. In fact I thought he was singing that old song by the floaters...Float On. For real though, the women didn't know how close she was to being left right there in the murky mess. I would have called her mother and everything but I wasn't trying to be a flood victim *smile*. We made it to her house and she asked the question that I now think all women use as an equalizer. She said, "are you hungry". I said, yes. Done deal, another night another adventure. Yeah, it's raining right now. This is the second wave of flooding that we've seen this year. I don't live in a flood area but this type of rain affect the whole area. Even streets that are miles away are affected because the natural runoffs like creeks, sewers and other attributaries are chuck full...travel is definitely a struggle. I've been through many of these so I just get me some summer sausage, cheese, crackers, something to drink and settle in. Today I watched Tiger Woods. He has never won a major when not having the lead going into the final round but I think this clown in front of him is going to choke, just like the Lakers did the other night. Anyway, thanks for asking, I am high and dry...I mean I am dry and high above the water. |
