Y'all this is a big deal. The African American Literary Awards Show (AALAS) is gearing up again. This year's awards ceremony will, most definitely, be better than ever. First AALAS founder Yvette Hayward has assembled a board of seasoned veterans to support her efforts. Yours truly is a member of that board. Second the set of books eligible for nomination are those published from June 2007 to June 2008. While I always supported the event the book eligible for nomination was always one of my complaints. Third, all books that meet the eligibility requirements can win. Books that garner the most support can win. Fourth, the event will really be one of a kind. This will be an even classier affair than previous years. This years event will be held at the Harlem Stage Gatehouse http://harlemstage.org/SEASON/index.php?id=65 The AALAS website (http://www.literaryawardshow.com) is being updated but you can read about last years event at: http://events.aalbc.com/2007aalas.htm More to come...
