Everybody's talking about the guy on Pacifica radio who said that a reporter paid him to make up lies about author Kola Boof. I'm surprised Nafisa Goma hasn't posted anything about it. There's an FBI probe now to investigate this web of people who have been stalking her. It seems lots of people are involved or took money to pass around lies about her, but they put her family's life in jeopardy and tried to mess up her career due to political views. They broke in her home, her car and video taped her children. I do remember the whole Peter Bergen thing, but I was shocked to hear the crap author Zane spread about Kola Boof. Like she didn't have a reading at the Shomburg or something. Why would Zane be trying to help people spread lies about Kola Boof? Theyre both raised in Washington DC and have two different fan base. Zane is way more famous and richer so I dont get her problem with Kola but some African American women have a problem with Kola's African views it seem. Apparently Zane need to get a lawyer quick. There was some stuff about all this in GalleyCat a while back and I found a link. http://www.mediabistro.com/galleycat/awards/apparently_people_feel_strongly_abou t_kola_boof_69299.asp Some more stuff too. http://poetwomen.50megs.com/custom2.html I'm on Kola's side. I hope she can redeem her name after the smear campaign. I know the FBI don't play and I don't think people should harrass someone for having different political views and opinions. Kola reminds me of the stories about Queen Nzingah and women like that. She's popular because she is a different thinker from most. I dont know any black women writers in America that is more interesting as she is. I see some of our African American people are mean and jealous to Africans because they dont want to share the spotlight with "other" types of black people who have differing views. That's what I notice.

Note from Kola: Can people please be kind enough to leave "Zane's" name out of any and everything that has to do with Kola Boof? If Kola has something to say about someone then she will say it herself in her own words. This is exactly why drama and b.s. can't die is because of gossipers and instigators mis-reporting tit for tat and keeping negativity going. Kola Boof will always have love for any and all Black women artists, regardless of who they are or whether or not she got in a tiff with them. Kola is aware of Peter Bergen and other political groups out to silence her, because of her public stances on Islam, Palestine, colorism, etc. That is being handled by the authorities. What Kola doesn't want is to continue having unnecessary drama with people over petty stuff. The reason Kola doesn't post online anymore is because her words are constantly taken out of context and used against her by various enemies---OR---in the case of MySpace, Wikipedida and even this site AALBC---people falsely post comments under her name. Kola Boof has never had a "MYSPACE" page and the woman posting as "Kola Boof" was a White "fan" of Kola who had her own blond blue eyed photo on the page, but people still thought she as Kola. She was made to remove Kola's name. Lawyers forced Wikipedia to shut down their Kola Boof page for the same reason --Impersonators posting false info about Kola's life and experiences. Kola is a passionate, expressive, emotional person and her attempts at reaching out to people have caused her to be burned, because they come from a different background and don't understand her views. Kola now realizes that and is isolating herself and concentrating on herself as an artist and activist and not trying to be socially "Part" of the black literary community anymore. Her work will be published and she will stay to herself. Please stop creating threads to incite mayhem. It's not helping Kola and it's not reflecting where she's at right now. posted by Nafisa Goma (for Kola)
