Junot Diaz' The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao is the winner of a 2008 Pulitzer Prize in Fiction.
The book, also the winner of a National Book Critics Award, tells the story of Oscar Wao and his family of Dominican immigrants, both in the present in New Jersey and in the past in the Dominican Republic. Diaz renders with genuine warmth and dazzling energy, humor, and insight the Dominican-American experience, and, ultimately, the endless human capacity to persevere in the face of heartbreak and loss. A true literary triumph, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao confirms Junot Diaz as one of the best and most exciting voices of our time.
Diaz is the second U.S. Latino to win a Pulitzer in literature. The first was another NYFA Fellow, Oscar Hijuelos for his novel The Mambo Kings Play Songs of Love, published in 1989.

I don't think the book was THAT good.
The fix has been in for this guy for a long time. |
