This book is probably the hardest book I've ever read. I remember wanting to walk away from it...but instead saying up until daybreak to read it in one sitting. Now, the movie. Here's an article about the lead actress: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/09/nyregion/thecity/09disp.html?_r=2&oref=slogin& oref=slogin

Sapphire's poetry collection AMERICAN DREAMS is on my all time favorite of poetry books. I thought PUSH was not a very successful novel. I didn't find the character convincing. Unless they give the story the Disney treatment I don't think it will be a successful movie--they could make a good one out of the novel, though. |

Agree with Chrishayden, she had a fine poetry debut with the publication of American Dreams. But I read PUSH and I have difficulty recalling any impression. Maybe the movie will freshen my memory... |
