Don't Blame It on Rio: The Real Deal Behind Why Men Go to Brazil for Sex by Jewel Woods and Karen Hunter Read Kam's review: http://reviews.aalbc.com/dont_blame_it_on_rio.htm A portion of the promotional copy reads: "Don't Blame It On Rio does more than uncover this behavior; it offers tips for discovering the behavior and solutions for stopping it before it happens." I finished the galley last week. I have to admit I thought the book was an excellent resource for someone interested in going -- seriously. First there were more than enough testimonials from Brothers, from all walks of life, explaining how teriffic the experience was. There was "help" on finding more information. There was no discussion about STD's, or getting busted. It sounded all good. By the end of the book I was like damn how did I miss out on all the action? And when can I catch the next flight out of here! LOL Sure their were some clues to check if your man was traveling for sex, but they left out the most obvious one -- check out homeboy's the passport.

Been there, done that. I can do the same in Europe, just about. Or Asia, or Africa, etc. BTW the promotional copy just sounds f/ucking stupid. "Tips" on "discovering" what "behavior"? And "stopping" said "behavior"? How patronizing and idiotic can you get? If men can't get it in Rio, they will just go elsewhere. And if women can't get it in the Bahamas, they will go to Kenya. Oops, my bad, they already are getting it in Kenya, too. As for the review, I think not all of the comments made by black men in Rio concerning black American women can be dismissed outright, though I know from personal experience that all the bad things that these men say about American black women can also be said about quite a few Brazilian women as well. But a lot of Black American women (and American women in general) have to get their asses on the ball if they want to keep their men from running away from them. |
