African American Student Union 36th Annual H. Naylor Fitzhugh Conference http://www.hbsaasu.com/custpage.cfm/frm/8139/sec_id/8139 The folks on the panel I participated in included: Robert Sirleaf- Director of Fixed Income Sales, Wachovia (son of Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf), James Brown- CBS Sports commentator, Joyce M. Roche- President & CEO, Girls, Inc. Alicia Boler-Davis- Plant Manager, General Motors (first woman in this role for GM) Kelvin Boston- Executive Producer & Host of the Moneywise with Kelvin Boston Public Television Series (someone I've worked with a couple of time in the past --http://aalbc.com/authors/kelvin_boston.htm) The event was executed superbly. Despite a snow storm the Saturday of the event it was very well attended. All the panels had serious, accomplished people on the them. I was honored to be included in the mix.

Troy, it sounds like a great experience! Do you know if they are going to place video on the web? And I forgive you for consorting with the enemy. ;-) Signed, Black Eli Kitty |

No I don't recall video being taken. But I do hope to get a couple of photos. Sorry the "consorting with the enemy" joke was lost on me. Please elaborate. Do you mean Harvard? |

Yep, Harvard. Yalies sometimes refer to themselves as Elis, after Elihu Yale, the founder. |

Blech @ LOG. His book was an interesting and enlightening, if not nauseating, read. He went to Princeton (and to Harvard Law, I believe). If memory serves, in "Our Kind of People", LOG recalls his white neighbor's response to his acceptance into Brown University--the neighbor thought it was "one of those black schools", and because LOG cared what the white neighbors thought, he felt that he had to be more impressive. Or something. |

FK, I can't tell you how often crossword puzzles use "eli" in its Yale context when supplying a clue for a 3-letter blank to be filled.

Sounds like a great panel, Troy. Do let us know if a taped version of it becomes available. ( I guess I am so spoiled: I assume everything should be available on YouTube! LOL) |

Troy: A Question. How is it you keep getting on all these panels? Are you like, a celebrity and that? |
