This letter is from Hannah Braverman, a journalist in Marrakech, Morocco and I'm posting it everywhere. October 12th, 2007 Menara/Tél.: +212 22 95 95 00 I'm tired of the lies about Kola Boof. The latest smear concerns LA MAISON ARABE, the hotel-restaurant where Kola Boof lived with Osama Bin Laden in 1996. Kola's enemies don't know much about the restaurant or its owner Prince Fabrizzio Ruspoli, and they must be related to Peter Bergen, as they're posting more misinformation such as claiming that Kola Boof referred to the estate being a "hotel" back in 1996. SHE DID NOT. Kola Boof's autobiography states two things--that LaMaison Arabe was being "renovated to become a hotel" in 1996 when she was there and that while she was there--it was a "bed and breakfast" for the elite. Those are factual statements and Prince Fabrizzio Ruspoli himself appears in Ms. Boof's autobiography (with his partner Philip) and has not sued her, but in fact has spoken to the U.S. State Department on her behalf, so once again the San Francisco Tag Team is off the mark. Ms. Boof's detractors fail to mention that La Maison Arabe was a restaurant in the 1940's and CLOSED in 1983. It then became a Private Estate providing "Bed and Breakfast" for the guests of Prince Fabrizzio Ruspoli and did not become a hotel until 1998. Hmmm. Might be a shade more credible if: - "Hannah Braverman" had ever showed up on the Internet ever before. Pretty remarkable for a journalist not to have done so. Odd, too, that "Braverman's" phone number is actually the main number for Morocco's principal Internet provider. - Kola/Nafisa weren't the only people around spelling the name of the Maison's proprietor, Prince Fabrizio Ruspoli, with two Z's (every body else, the Prince included, seems to use one). Strange that "Braverman" has picked up on that, too. But I begin to think that credibility isn't the point. I'm not sure what is, mind you, but the Boofites (insofar as there are any beyond the writer herself) can't really be expecting sensible people to accept all this without some shred of real-world evidence. | ||

NOTE to all "mystery solvers". This is the same skirt that Kola Boof wore to the Schomburg Center on Sept. 16th Here, as evidenced by the N.Y. Times Photo Research Department, she also wore the skirt in the 1996 Arab film "Laylat al Zafif" (The Wedding Night). Kola played the groom's mistress. Unfortunately, only the New York Times has been able to find these old movie stills. On December 11th, 2002, they published the first b&w movie still in their article about Kola Boof, along with a childhood UNICEF photo of Kola Boof. Those photos are "captioned" and DOCUMENTED in the New York Times. Ms. Boof's lawyers only deal in FACTS. | ||

That's funny, Nafisa - in posting about the legendary Schomburg event, you said that Kola wore a "short gray skirt" - Not a black-and-white herringbone mini. On the other hand, it does look like the one posted in the supposed pictures of the event. On yet another hand, I'm not sure I'd boast about wearing a ten-year-old skirt that didn't look like much to start with... I suppose "Laylat al Zafif" would be the picture that Kola has previously described as "Layl al Zafif", calling it "a horrible Arabic film about a man haunted by his incestuous mother (a vampire)--I played, you guessed it, "the topless singing Ethiopian lesbian vampire girl" (the only African in the film)." Now, how that fits into a hefty young lady holding a telephone is anybody's guess... There actually is a film called "Domu' fi Laylat al Zafaf" ("Tears on the Wedding Night", 1981), which which starred the major Egyptian actor Farid Shawki - but which, not surprisingly, had no subplot involving an Ethiopian vampire...and dates from about a decade before Kola's supposed film career... | ||

Please, Nafisa, englighten us: what is the "reason" that, as a publicist, you're not interested in getting as much mileage as possible out of an event that you were so desperate to publicize before it (supposedly) took place? And why is it that this world-famous Arabic writer has never once been observed speaking Arabic? (And please don't tell us that she's sung in the language - for which there is equally no evidence. Eartha Kitt used to sing in ten languages in her cabaret act, from Turkish to Japanese, but she never claimed she spoke them! Anyone can learn a text and sing it...) | ||

C-neek, you are being way to hard on Nafisa Goma. U know Kola's just having fun with some of the soft-witted here. She knows people like you and Awoman and a few others are going to call her on some of her antics and that will be worth even more publicity. Kola is indeed a genius. Either way she wins. She gets publicity if you buy it, she still gets it if you don't. One day I happened upon Kola while channel surfing. She was being interviewed on one of the high-powered news networks and holding her own with the show's host. Impressive to say the least. That is until she starts up with the emotional breakdowns and the tears. Kola, you gotta get that part under control or the few people that don't think you're nuts are going to change their opinion of you too. | ||

I can not believe that "this" subject has not changed......not one bit. It's like a poor soap-popper, as an old lady down the street used to call them. I mean a couple of years ago the board was on Kola and her plots. I come back and ......... She's definitely working it!!! I have a couple of her autographed books and I am always taken aback when someone sees the book with her big ol'titties hanging out *smile*. They don't know what to say and neither do I *LOL*. Hey Carey! What's poppin',Sarge? I got the same thing going down at my crib with Kola's books. They are still on the coffee table and people still stare at her tig 'ol biddies. (or is that just me?)I can't figure out what is wrong with this stuck up generation. Everytime people come to my house the first topic of discussion is Kola. Now about that car I lost or all the other multitude of *things* not to mention the doubt that is in the minds of my family and friends.....I...I can only do what I do and hope that it's the right thang. Again...I lost my joy...my direction and purpose. Day by day....with faith, I am regaining *that*. Hey, I needed you guys...I need you guys. I can not express what it means to me to be missed.
