Kola Boof's letter to officials at the Schomburg Center, to Derrick Bell and some others.
Dearest,
This is really important.
These comments were written by a Black Woman book editor at HACHETTE BOOK GROUP who is claiming that my event at the Schomburg never took place (it did and was quite successful)---and she is spreading this lie around the publishing industry in New York.
This is posted on her online friends group at AALBC.COM:
I knew Kola's Schomburg event was on Sunday and remembered that I'd promised to attend, but didn't think I'd be able to make it. Well, by Sunday morning, much of the pain and swelling subsided, so I decided to attend after all. I couldn't remember the time, however. I called the Schomburg to confirm the time of Kola's event and was told that NO EVENTS ARE SCHEDULED FOR TODAY. Today being Sunday, September 16, 2007. I thought that was odd, so I asked was it canceled. I was told that they couldn't cancel an event that was never scheduled in the first place.
This didn't sit right with me, so I did a little investigating. I went online and, lo and behold, the Schomburg's very own website confirmed that they had no events scheduled for Sunday, September 16, 2007. I couldn't believe it. Then again, I thought, we're dealing with Kola here. It wouldn't be the first time she "invented" something.
So that I would not be labeled a liar, or the old standby "jealous of Kola," I decided to capture a screenshot, as documented proof, of the Schomburg's website that clearly states NO EVENTS ARE SCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2007. I find it more than a little odd that so many people "claim" to have attended an event at the Schomburg Center on Sunday, September 16, 2007 that the Schomburg Center itself has no knowledge of. Then again, this is Kola we're dealing with.
My event DID take place and was a hit, but I just can't win.
Innocent Editors/Executives believe these lies that are routinely told about me.
I just don't understand what people are so afraid of in the person of "Kola Boof" and why it's necessary to constantly LIE on an African woman author and keep her from being heard----for what?

Nafisa and Kola I received this email form Shomburg Center an before stupid Cynique come in here talking mess there are three auditoriums in the Shomburg the Langston Hughes i the largest one so dont worry about haters an liars.Kola needs to realize that haters cause even more people to like kola boof Im a perfect example who couldn't stand kola but the haters help you so dont worry.

Ms. Boof's event took place Sunday at 4 p.m. in the Langston Hughes auditorium but was not a part of the New York Public Library's exhibition platform. We only feature in-house programs on our blog.
I did enjoy working closely with Kola Boof on this project for most of the summer.
As literary projects go, it was one of our better received ones.
Ms. Boof's books continue to be available at the Schomburg Gift Shop. Ask for Bibi Uddin.

Of course anybody who questions kola's veracity is talking "mess". The "mess" is that none of the kola brigade had the presence of mind to simply say that kola's yodeling concert was being held in the Langston Hughes auditorium in the Schomberg center and that's why Urban Scribe didn't see it scheduled on the Schomberg site. Dummies. |

Talk what you know, chrishayden. What you describe doesn't apply to me. I've lived a long and full life, and in my retirement within the circle of a loving family of 5 kids, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren I continue to lead a life of leisure that allows me to do exactly as I please or am I without accomplishments. And if you'd take you head out of your fat ass, you'd admit that how you describe kola is a little embellished. |

Urban Scribe didn't make any "claims" anyway.
She asked why Kola's event was NOT listed at the Schomburg's official website. (Which it WAS NOT LISTED and that is a fact.)
But instead of Kola responding like a normal adult, she has to go and blow the conversation out of proportion and attempt to turn a simple question into some sort of a legal case.
FYI dumb Kola - this case wouldn't even make it into court - it's what is referred to as "frivolous"

How could somebody as inept at typing and expressing herself be a grad from Sara Lawrence college, "enchola"? Your character is so inconsistent. Surely at some point during your pursuit of a higher education you would've learned to type. Any school child can manage to do so, and even by using the hunt and peck 2 finger system the average person can become a proficient typist. But of course you aren't average.
