Hi Troy,
How soon before your book is released should you advertise on AALBC? Should you do it as soon as you have the book cover? Is six months prior too soon? Do you have to have a link to amazon? |

OH I SEE! Ain't NONE o' yall interested in anwering my question hunh? My money aint GOOD enogh for the AALBC???? WELL It's just as green as anybody elses! Or just as plastic HA! Sorry I did not notice this post until now. This is a common question. I will eventually post the answer on the web site as well.
Still the best way to reach me is via email: troy@aalbc.com I normally read email everyday and I reply to potential clients as soon as possible.
I do not visit the discussion boards everyday. Half the time, when I visit, it is to look for book information or to perform some type of maintenance.
To answer your question:
The answer really depends upon the book and author.
However, in the majority of cases, the best time to launch an ad campaign on AALBC.com is when the book is available for purchase. This is especially true for an unknown author.
That does not mean that promotion should wait until the book is available for purchase. You should be attempting to garner book reviews and creating a buzz about your upcoming project at least a few months before the book is out. Again, this is especially important for an unknown author.
If you advertise before the book is available for purchase either in a physical store (AALBC.com drives physical stores sales) or via Amazon (Amazon fulfills virtually all of AALBC.com online orders); visitors who might otherwise be interested in your book may simply go onto another book -- in favor of one they can purchase right away.
