Confession [that I believe I’ve made here before]: I sometimes skim through the end of a book to see which characters are still around. I don’t try to find out the exact ending but I just want to find out if I’ll like how it ends. If I can tell a character is no longer around and I can figure out why and don’t like it I’ve been known to not finish the book [sounds kinda crazy huh?]. For years I could not read mysteries. I just couldn’t stand not knowing – ya know? I’m better now though [thanks Mr. Mosley!]. I don’t like reading more than one book at a time. I like audio books but hate reading stuff on a computer screen. My son just read the whole Harry Potter book on the puter. Guess it’s a generational thing – you like what you’re used to.

I exercise an uncharacteristic amount of will power in never skipping to the end to find out how a book ends. I also never read the cover summaries because I want to approach the story cold nor - has it ever occurred to me to read more than one book at a time. Hummm. I've never read an audio book, but keep saying I'm going to. I have to get a good picture in my mind of a book's protagonist before I can really get into the plot. |

I usually read while lying on my bed. I have books all around and I typically read 3-4 books at a time - as in a couple of chapters from this one, then read some of the next, etc. until I finish that group and then I'll start on others. Depending upon the topic, I'll skim/speed read thru some parts and read other parts more carefully. Sometimes I take notes. I rarely read any fiction, most of my reads are self-help/improvement, how-to, get-rich, business related books. I sleep with books in the bed. I am an incurable bookworm

In regards to fiction, I usually read one book at a time, late at night in bed or on the weekends wherever I can find a quiet place. I usually give books 100 pages before deciding to give up on it. If a book gets dull at about 2/3 of the way completed, I will skim through the rest of the book and only read the dialogue and maybe the final chapter. Some books have great starts but then get weaker towards the middle and the end. I think I have a short attention span because I'd rather pick up a book less than 300 pages nowadays. If a book is over 350 pages, I rarely consider reading it. |

I read in bed a lot too; although I have a reading chair that I take advantage of sometimes. I read in doctor's offices, on the train or riding in a car on a road trip. I read in the bathroom and have some fiction always there to read while I am making a visit. I also will read more than one book at a time. I read while eating if no one else is eating with me and I will read if I take myself out for a meal and am dining alone. I prefer books under 350 pages too. I am reluctant to pick up a BAB but then I have read some BABS that were worth it. I mostly read fiction but will tackle a self-help, biography or poetry if it is good poetry. I'm getting into murder/mysteries a bit more of late. |

I read with my eyes mostly. Sometimes I move my lips, but usually I do it silently. Why do people ask these little details about other people (Q--How do you feel? A--With my hands) Is this a woman thang? |

Aww Man! I should have known ole sir-grump-a-lot would come in here spreading his particular brand of joy. Thank you for sharing Chrishayden! Anyway, I like BAB's. A lot of times in the library I'll pick out a book just because it's so big - found some good ones like that.

LOL about Chris's crackers and bedtime reading! Girl, you do not miss a trick! On topic: I like to read a mix of stuff for work, fiction, and non-fiction and usually read 2-3 books at a time. I used to religiously read every page of a book I started, whether I was enjoying it or not. I guess this behavior was something akin to a literary "Clean Plate CLub." But now, I give a book a quarter to a third and if I'm not feeling it I may move on. (Particularly with library books.) I also enjoy audiobooks. They are a wonderful way to do housework, exercise to, and listen to on trips in car or plane. |

Mzuri that Chris post was from March -- Wow! I'm sure Chris did not recall because he probably made it up when he wrote it. I read in bed; though I'm generally too tired by the time I get there, to read any thing very substaintial. I read during commutes; but I drive so I'm generally limited to reading at stop lights on in slow moving traffic. I read on vacation. My last 10 day vacation I got through 5 books. Mostly reading on the beach and airplane. I gained 5 pounds. I read on the can. Not as much as I did when I was growing up. It was nothing to spend 30 minutes or more reading. I went through the entire world book encylopedia that way. "Boy what are you doing in that bathroom", was something I often heard. Though now that I reflect on it, Moms was probably more concerned about me being engaged in a different activity... I find myself reading (like now) when I'm supposed to be working and of course I read for work (AALBC.com). I'm still print most things out that I find on line (sometimes even these posts -- even if I'm sitting right in front of the computer. I read in the tub. I have a couple of reading chairs. The thought of lounging in a recliner curled up with a good book and a glass of wine sounds appealing, but I rarely have/make time do this. You know time is truly a luxury...

Hello All, I read all over the place, in possibly every position I can get this big body into. I'm kinda scared now to read in bed, cause I find that I don't get any sleep if the book is good. |
