Relentless signs second publishing deal with G-Unit/Pocket Books.

Family, I never saw anything like this. 50 Cent has single-handedly turned authors into rock stars. When I first arrived at the Borders superstore on Columbus Circle, NYC I never expected what I found.

Hi Troy! 50's turning into a male Oprah. That'll teach her to snub him.

I love me some Fiddy! I think he's got superior business acumen.

The book deals are a great reward for Aaron (Congratulations Aaron - all that hustling has paid off even more!!!) and most importantly - all of this is going to inspire more young people to get into reading and maybe even writing

I like the way Relentless chronicles his experiences. He takes photos of the celebrities and the general public just the same. His commentary sounds just the way he speaks -- makes you feel like you were there.

For the same reason I also enjoy Kalamu ya Salama’s “Report From the Field”. Kalamu pieces are more in depth and backed by an additional generation of experience. Here are a couple of examples I found in the site:

National Black Writers Conference 2000 -- A Report From The Field
http://events.aalbc.com/nat'l1.htm (you'll have to copy and paste the full URL - clicking the link wil not work)

I supplemented Kalamu’s text with photographs I took during the event. While I attended this event; Kalamu’s words added depth to my experience.

360º A Revolution of Black Poets -- A Report From The Field
http://aalbc.com/events/360report.htm

360º was literally the very first event I attended in the capacity of founder of AALBC.com. It is probably one of the reasons I’m still at it. The list of people I met or saw at this event would fill a Who’s Who’s of Black poets and writers.

Kwame Alexander - Afaa Michael Weaver - Jessica Care Moore - Kysha N. Brown - Troy Johnson

I first met Kalamu, in person, at this event. He gave me 80 copies of a an anthology called Fertile Ground: http://aalbc.com/books/fertileground.htm it took me about 2 years to sell all 80 copies. It was a decent book and, for me, served as one of several introductions into the literature of our people.

With Blogging more and more people are doing this sort of thing; though most are not very good at it...

Troy,

Now, I thought Relentless had inked a deal w/St. Martin's Press. And that is the publisher that is currently listed on his website. I thought there was some kind of non-compete clause that would prevent you from selling the same type of books to a different publisher once you are under contract? So how did he sign with 50?

A_woman,

Clearly Relentless' contract with St Martin does not preclude the contract with with G-unit. I have not seen the specifics, but I'm sure the laywers have.

Relenteless is not the only author published by another house signing with 50.

I undertstand 50's Book line supposed to be a line of "Novels" which may be the difference that allowed him to sign.

You can reach Solomon via his web site http://www.solomonjones.com/

Peace
