People, last month I told you all that a lot is going on with my company and that I would have some news for you. Well, I’m now excited to announce that TRE BLACK has recently been signed to GHETTOHEAT®. TRE BLACK, born in Brownsville, Brooklyn, now a Harlem resident, has written a novel titled, HOODFELLAZ in which TRE BLACK penned while in prison. Recently released, I had the pleasure of meeting TRE BLACK through one of Harlem’s finest, TREASURE BLUE, author of Harlem Girl Lost, at this past Harlem Book Fair. TRE BLACK then immediately handed me his manuscript at the event. While reviewing a few pages of his manuscript in between me selling books and promoting CONVICT’S CANDY, TRE BLACK, seeing that I was impressed with his work by my facial expression, quickly snatched the palm cards out of my hands and proceeded to promote CONVICT’S CANDY; telling the thousands of fans that he was now down with GHETTOHEAT® and to look out for his novel soon. One of the highlights of the event was me meeting poet/writer SONIA SANCHEZ, who actually took time in sharing her words of wisdom with me; I was truly honored. It was one of the most humbly moments I’ve experienced, in which it’s something very extraordinary about her spirit and speech that makes one feel incredibly overwhelmed with joy when in SONIA SANCHEZ’s presence. Without going deep, she told me how proud she was of me and that it was important for me, a Black man to continue to write and share my words with the people, I told SONIA SANCHEZ that I intended to. She then proceeded to give me a signed copy of her book, in which I handed her one of mine. I felt the need to warn her about the explicit content inside of GHETTOHEAT®, telling her that the language was racy. SONIA SANCHEZ’S response: “Brother HICKSON, I’ve been racy for years…” Much love to her always!!! 5. Everybody, just so you don’t get confused, the model on the book cover isn’t Candy, the main character of the story. The model is PARIS GOTTI, another transgender who was born a male. Women, if a person born a male can look like this, than there is no excuse with pulling your look together. I was in awe when doing the photo shoot; it only took seven minutes for PARIS GOTTI, a transsexual, to do her own hair and make-up, and get dress to take the photos. Anyway, you’ll soon read the fictionalized novel, based on a true story that deals with sexual identity, prostitution, homosexuality within the prison system, the interactions and relationships between the inmates and officers, infidelity and most importantly, explains how the HIV virus spreads rampantly throughout the jailhouse; including how the dangerous and deadly disease is transmitted within society, when infected inmates are released to go home.
