(sorry 'bout the formatting.~Mah)

Word is Bond is an anthology of hip hop-inspired literature.
The arts of deejaying, emceeing, breaking, and writing grafitti are
about
creating something from nothing. They are guerilla art forms, more
about
improvisation than the corporate version of the culture that we're fed
in heavy
doses across the airwaves. At its best, hip hop is insightful and
cutting.
We're not looking directly for MCs to wow us with lyrical gifts
(though we
wouldn't rule them out either), rather the stories and poems we choose
will be
infused with the energy that helps hip hop breathe. The work we will
include
should speak to young city-dwellers of various ethnicities. We want
to
publish real literature that reaches out to those who don't feel
represented by
the canon of academia, and those who don't even know what that means.
So if
you have a story or poem that you think can reach someone who likely
doesn't
read much as well as it reaches those of us that do...send it.

If you are a believer in demographics analysis as method of gleaning
valuable information, you should know that your submission will be
read by two
brown-skinned men in Seattle, both of whom grew up in the golden era
of hip hop,
and both of whom read a gang of stories and poems every year.
Please submit poems of any length and stories from 5-5,000 words.

Submit to the P.O. Box or email address at right. When mailing,
please
include a self-addressed stamped envelope for response.

We ask that you please submit no more than one (1) story and/or five
(5)
poems at a time.

We've experienced the waiting game that goes along with submitting
work, and
we empathize. We'll do our best to respond promptly.

Simultaneous submissions are fine. Congratulations if your work is
accepted
elsewhere...please communicate that to us as soon as possible.

Writers will be compensated with 2 contributor's copies in exchange
for
First North American Serial Rights.
