Complementing this footage are interviews with many of Baldwin's close friends and colleagues, including his brother David; his biographer David Leeming; writers Amiri Baraka, William Styron, Ishmael Reed and Maya Angelou; and entertainer Bobby Short. The film also features archival material, some of it rarely seen, and original footage shot in France, Turkey, Switzerland and various locations in the United States, places where he lived and worked. A series of readings from Baldwin's personal correspondence and published works adds to the depth of this writer's portrait.
