Ahh, The Good Lord don't like ugly, do he? A few years ago all the homeless refugees in the stadium were poor and black--now they are well to do and white. I started to post a laughing emoticon but I know that God is just. I will just quote that Gospel "No More Water but the Fire Next Time"

Where is the redemption? Everybody has come to the immediate rescue of all these well-to-do refugees. Their care and safety is the first priority of the governor of California and the president of the United States. |

Oh right. I forgot. They're having a great time sleeping in gyms and pissing in buckets and hoping somebody shows up with something to eat and having to eat whatever crap they come with. I think they would rather be back in their homes with all their stuff-- But what do I know? You must have never been burned out. It is a helluva thing--all those neat pictures and yearbooks and stuff you thought you'd have forever burnt up and ruined by smoke. It built a lot of character for me, though. I realized that I was more than the things I possessed. |

Although the treatment of those in New Orleans was one of the most criminal things I've ever witnessed with my own eyes, and there are constant divides between the "haves" and the "have nots" --which is completely unjust, I think it's equally wrong for human beings to think "God" uses natural disaster to "get" people who "aren't right". There is a saying that goes something like this.....An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. So true. |

Here's who you ought to be getting down on, but you ain't got the stuff Michael Roston The Huffington Post Gov't Auditors Warned Bush Administration About Poor Firefighting Plans October 24, 2007 02:10 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As firefighters continue to risk their lives battling the inferno in southern California, evidence is growing that the Bush administration is not adequately prepared to support them. The Government Accountability Office, Congress's nonpartisan auditor, issued stark warnings earlier this year on shortcomings in the administration's plans to fight fires. In a June report, the GAO report faulted the U.S. Forest Service, Department of Agriculture, and other agencies for failing to accomplish the "fundamental step" of planning out what assets and resources were needed to prepare for approaching fire seasons. Meanwhile, disaster response problems that have become all too familiar in recent years were also identified: administration officials placing resources where they were politically expedient, and using poorly performing contractors to accomplish critical national tasks. The Orange County Register today appeared to show how these warnings manifested. The paper faulted federal planners for erecting red tape that prevented the use of more DC-10 airplanes to drop flame retardant on areas that were on fire. "It would be nice to have more such planes available, don't you think?" an editorial in the paper asked. "If the federal government had had its way, even this one almost certainly wouldn't be flying this week....One can understand a certain amount of caution from the Forest Service, but this is bureaucratic overkill." Robin Nazarro, the Director of GAO's Natural Resources and Environment program, told the Huffington Post why the Forest Service's planning has been inadequate. "If you don't have goals and strategies for carrying them out, you're in a reactive mode rather than a proactive mode," the report's lead author said. "They say they are using 5 to 10 year averages, but each year the fires gets worse, so they're always underestimating what they need." The report shows that the Bush administration was warned that the approximately $3 billion spent each year on fire prevention and suppression was not being used appropriately. "Agencies have not yet improved their systems for determining the appropriate type and quantity of firefighting assets needed for the fire season or for effectively and efficiently procuring them," the GAO states. The bad planning by the agencies even raised red flags in the White House, where the report's authors say that the President's Office of Management and Budget "told us they would not allow the firefighting agencies to publish long-term funding estimates until the agencies had sufficiently reliable data on which to base those estimates." The GAO also criticized federal agencies for deploying costly firefighting resources "in response to political or social pressures." "[F]irefighting assets may sit idle at a fire rather than be released for use elsewhere because managers are concerned that they will be unable to recall an asset if they need it later, or air tankers may drop flame retardants when on-the-ground conditions may not warrant such drops," it warns. Other problems, the GAO notes, involve private contractors, a common malady in the Bush administration. The Forest Service has turned to national contractors that can deploy firefighting crews and aviation resources anywhere in the nation, but a failure to ensure accountability has resulted in poor performance. "[R]equirements varied from contract to contract and did not ensure that the agencies obtained the most cost-effective assets," it reported. "Further, inadequate administration and oversight of the agreements by the agencies resulted in poor contractor performance and high rental rates." Nazarro also highlighted the lack of skilled managers within the Forest Service in particular. "They don't have enough managers trained in whether to engage in fire use or to suppress," the GAO researcher said. "They need 300 managers, but they're short, with fewer than 100 now, and only another 100 being trained." Members of Congress blasted the Bush administration's firefighting planning this past summer after the GAO report's release. During a June hearing, Senator Bingaman warned that Bush had focused on cutting budgets in place of adequately preparing for wildfires. "The Administration's budgets indicate that it believes that containing wildfire costs must come at the expense of preparedness," argued Bingaman, chairman of the Senate energy committee. "Its fiscal year 2008 budget proposes a nearly $90 million cut in the preparedness account. But starving the preparedness, wildfire suppression, and other Forest Service programs is not an effective or efficient strategy to contain those costs." Breaking Politics News |

To Troy Johnson, and to all posters, lurkers and users of AALBC, its fine products and their agents, employees, heirs and assigns; After some thought and soul searching I have decided that I should apologize for the lead post, which views neither Troy Johnson, his agents, employees heirs and assigns, nor the posters lurkers and users share or ascribe to. This is probably not the time, as the fires are still raging and people are suffering, to speak of divine justice or retribution no matter that Pat Robertson and Ray Hagee do it all the time without censure or reproval. I do not take any glee in the suffering and death, as did Rush Limbaugh, Pat Buchanan, and numerous right wing race baiters did at the plight of the Hurricane Katrina victims as they starved and died in the Superdome. I overlooked that, in this hour, we should offer only words of encouragement and hope and proffer aid, and not sink to the depth of the slime that giggled and wondered why poor people didn't just drive out of town in their limousines or maybe walk across the waters like good Christians would. I erred. I apologize. I ask forgiveness, even though I have not blamed the calamity on the praciticing of voodoo, or heathen religions, or the celebration of Mardi Gras, as did legions of commentators. I realize that I should not sink to the level of such lying wonders and filthy idolators, pondscum and dickwads they may be, no matter what disgust I feel, no matter how the dying and the dead cry out to be explained and free of defamation. I do this willfully, without urging and of my own free will, and not because some white folks (and black folks) think it is the job of Negroes to sob and cry when white folks stub their toes, and blame it on their black skin when their fellow negroes drown like rats. And to you, Moonsigns, I especially apologize. You are a racist and a white supremecist--no, you would not hang a noose or drag a black man behind a truck or even willfully hurt a human being of African decent like that, but your heart ain't right girl, you show it almost everytime, like when you leaped to blame Ray Nagin for not holding a pistol to some bus drivers heads and making them drive those school busses. You can't help yourself. You are a child of America. You got to kep living with those people and don't want nobody calling you an N-word lover, and, though I would hope that I would be strong enough to withstand the titanic pressures that are upon you to keep solidarity with your own kind, I cannot vouchsafe for sure that I would. Maybe, just maybe, if you keep coming around here maybe just maybe you can and will do better. To all of you, your friends, families and neighbors, I wish you blessings and peace. Out. |

Are you aware that Moonsigns is married to a black man and the mother of bi-racial children. This gives her more insight than you give her credit for. |

Are you aware that Moonsigns is married to a black man and the mother of bi-racial children. This gives her more insight than you give her credit for. (I know it because you and she have stated it an nauseum and it don't mean squat. Thomas Jefferson had children by a black woman and he wouldn't free her or them. Strom Thurmond had a black daughter and he was a stone racist. In case you think this is just confined to men, I had a friend who married a white woman. I went to the wedding. I noticed there were only a few black guests none of them from his family. One day he broke down in tears and admitted she was a racist. She was fine with him--but not his black friends, family, etc. Moonsigns obviously thinks she has insight because she thinks she is an expert on 40 million black people because she is sleeping with one. This is racism, even though she ain't night riding with the Klan--leastwise I don't think she is. I had an acquaintance who was a big wheel in the local Aryan Brotherhood who had this black woman. Him and this Polish married guy were always in court because they were fighting in the street over her like Bluto and Popeye. He didn't take her to his meetings. Can you be just a little racist? Can you be just a little pregnant? |

Chrishayden: "God is the one you got a problem with. Take it up with him--and watch what you do." Moonsigns: Chrissy, the mere suggestion to "take it up" with your "God", is an implication that I, as well as others who don't think like you, are wrong in their spiritual beliefs -- and the "watch what you do" is suggesting the very same. I would think that you'd have more "love", "brother" Chris.

Chrissy, You complain if people don't have a solution to social-ills, and you complain if they do (Yvette's thread on "The Souls of Black Girls" is the most recent example of how much a "cry-baby" you are). You're never satisfied with what you think other people should be doing. You lack strong analytical skills, which leads you to look at everything subjectively. Which, in turn, makes you look like a punk. So what you think I'm a racist. Blah. Blah. Blah. I'm not, and I know I'm just another one of your scapegoats -- you always find someone to blame. And it's apparent that your time would be better spent working on your own heart. On a side note, Ray Nagin was a problem within a problem. And if one, in this case, you, can't see that, all I can say is that I'm glad you're not raising children.

You lack strong analytical skills, which leads you to look at everything subjectively ("Objectivity is subjective But subjectivity is objective") Woody Allen I know I'm just another one of your scapegoats -- (Paranoia. Is this what Dr. Frances Cress Welsing refers to as fear of genetic annihilation? Or is it something more----sinister?) And it's apparent that your time would be better spent working on your own heart. (Heart nothing. I'M IN YOUR HEAD, MAN!) On a side note, Ray Nagin was a problem within a pro (We've wasted enough time on Ray Let's talk about.....us)
