I used to teach preschoolers. That experience forever changed my interactions with people. I now know that inside of every adult, there is a 3 year old. And I never met a three year old I couldn't find something to love about--even the one little girl in Head Start who called me the b-word and made fun of the clothes I used to wear! (I was a struggling, part-time college student at the time barely making ends meet with very little in the way of a clothing budget.) So even today, when I meet adults, it is hard to become too pessimistic about their potential because I know that 3 year old is in them...somewhere. And that kid needs attention and has vast potential for greatness and has a sense of loyalty towards cute puppies and people who offer them a warm cookie. Sometimes all you need to do is coax the 3 year old to come out and show her/himself. In the 70s we had a term called "warm fuzzies." It was kind of a message or gesture given to someone to express friendship, caring, appreciation and it was meant to be offered without the expectation of anything in return. (Contrast the compliment that debts the receiver to return the compliment.) I'd like this thread to be about expressing appreciation for long-time poster, Chris Hayden. I encourage everyone to participate (Cynique LOL). I'll start. Chris, I appreciate that you post as yourself. I often wonder where some of your statements come from, but even many of these can make me chuckle. I appreciate you trying to keep poetry going on the board from time to time. I am grateful that you wrote a "guest post" for my blog a couple of years back. I like how you keep the converstations moving. I love how you bring out the sharp wit in Cynique. I enjoy your "my morning in the 'hood" snippets of life even as I cannot always relate to them. (I wish Mzuri was here to post a "warm fuzzy GIF" but pretend there was one in this spot.) Next... |

Chrishayden, himself, is warm and fuzzy. Just like the abominal snowman. He tries to be hard-hearted but he's really a big wussy. You wanna see a grown man cry? Just say that poor people are lazy and gang bangers are bad. Then break out the kleenex. Watta guy.

OK. You people clearly are not trying hard enough. LOL Cynique, I'll give you credit for your attempt. If I were an editor, I'd re-write it to be a bit more warm and fuzzy: Chrishayden, himself, is warm and fuzzy. Just like [a teddy bear]. He tries to be hard-hearted but he's really [got a soft and golden heart]. You wanna see a grown man [show compassion]? Just say that poor people are lazy and gang bangers are bad. Then break out the kleenex. Watta guy[!!! ] LOL |

Yvettep and all you wonderful Chris Hayden fans: WHAT? Only Seven posts? Seriously though-- I appreciate your attempts to lead me on the pathways of righteousness. You are ladies, gentlepeople and scholars. I also appreciate and am amused by your attempts to analyze me--you can try, but you shall discover, as I often tell Mamoiselle Cynique that I DEFY analysis. But I do love throwing out little clues to help those who try to piece together the vast puzzle that is and will be Chris Hayden. Here is another. When somebody tries to give me a massage, to make me feel good, I recoil. It's not that I can't stand the touch of other beings I don't LIKE to feel good. Put that in your pipes and smoke it along with your medicinal grass! |

Puzzle, my eye. You fancy yourself a polemicist, chrishayden, but you are clearly a surly malcontent who talks out of both sides of his mouth. You can't even qualify to be a misanthrope because you're too mushy. You do have a flair for comedy, however, and it far exceeds your erratic attempts to offer serious rational commentary. yawn. |

Whatever. Figuring you out ain't really a priority of mine, chrishayden. You don't seem to realize that you are very predictable, which is why I knew you would get around to implying that you are in my mind. Not. Out of sight, out of mind. |

OK, I'll be quiet, and while we patiently wait for others to finish wracking their brains in an effort to come up with something warm to say about fuzzy chris, I will hop over to the joke thread and wax supreme. LOL |

When I think of how warm and fuzzy Hayden is I just want to breathe in all the oxygen my lungs can muster and HURL HUGE CHUNKS OF WHATEVER I ATE LAST YEAR!!!! However, thinking of Hayden as a 3-year old...Totally do-able. I actually didn't think he was THAT old. |
