The Anti Cosby backlash is building. Get on the right side of history or get run over Five Reasons Black People Don’t Listen to Bill Cosby www.boycewatkins.com www.yourblackworld.com To see the video statement Click Here My questions for Dr. Huxtable, as he engages in his ego-maniacal "reign of terror", completed in celebration of his latest cure for 400 years worth of social ills would be listed below. Of course, Bill would never have a conversation with any scholar with the ability to rip his ideas apart. His only response (on the Oprah Winfrey Show, with no dissenters present) is "My critics are all crazy". Sounds like a doctor to me....Here are my questions for "The Cos": 1) Why does Bill Cosby only have the courage to blame black people for racial inequality? The baby of racial inequality has both a mother and a father. Sorry Bill, you can’t just beat up on the group that can’t fight you back. You have to be a bigger man than that. 2) Bill Cosby: Ask yourself this question: Why does a man considered to be “America’s dad”, only feel comfortable addressing the white community when you are telling jokes or dogging your own people? Perhaps that is the only time they will allow you to speak. What better time to address white America for their role in the creation of racial inequality, than during trips to “Meet the Press”? Bill, do you think more whites than blacks watch that show? Why not talk to the people who are watching? 3) If Cosby were to address white America and its institutions as harshly as he addresses blacks, how fast would he be UNINVITED to Meet The Press? Dr. Huxtable would suddenly be as out of favor as OJ Simpson. Even the strongest puppy doesn’t bite the hand that feeds him, as Bill has spent many decades eating from the hands of major corporations and media conglomerates who helped create the very problems he is upset about. Like many other "mainstream" African-Americans, Cosby knows full well that any perceived assault on American institutions would lead him to be black-balled from the predominantly white media outlets and right-wing organizations that are cheering him on today. 4) You say that you don’t talk to white America because they won’t listen to your comments? Well guess what Bill, BLACK PEOPLE don’t listen EITHER. Why not speak in a way that challenges both individual behavior and institutional infrastructure? The same way corporations change their business behavior based on IRS rules, individuals change their behavior based on opportunities available, the quality of the school systems, etc. You can't talk about the individual's choices without talking about the individual's options. Bill Cosby and Oprah Winfrey's ridiculously simple-minded analyses of complex social problems is reflective of the growing gap between the rich and poor in the black community. THEY DO NOT REPRESENT ALL BLACK PEOPLE, especially the poor, whom they spend no time listening to. They only feel the need to preach. 5) It’s always easiest to attack poor, single black mothers, because they are not invited onto talk shows to defend themselves. Cosby has learned that verbally abusing women and children is an easy way to feel strong and self-righteous. Even among black people, how often has he mentioned BET and his buddy Bob Johnson for their role in creating a generation of hoochie-mamas and wannabe thugs? Oh, I forgot, it’s all their parents’ faults, even though many of them are working 12 hours a day at minimum wage, something that Cosby knows little about. Don't you think that if it were that easy to create such a perfect and wonderful life, people would already be doing it? Perhaps someone has persuaded Cosby that the perceived cultural inferiority of black people is quite real, for this is the ONLY message he communicates in his constant ranting to mainstream media. Bill, in order to solve a problem, mathematics says that you must work on both sides of the equation. Why you are afraid to challenge America’s institutions, but boldly go after black mothers and children is beyond me. It is not productive to walk in the middle of a fight and tell one of the kids that he is wrong, while allowing the other kid to go off and play. But then again, that’s the way the black kids are always treated in our school systems, as we learned in the Jena 6 case. One can’t be sure who is worse: Bill Cosby, who engages in the non-sensical and unproductive act of complaining about black people in front of predominantly white audiences, or the scientist James Watson, who said that he can prove that black people are genetically inferior to whites. What is scary is that Watson would listen to the words of Cosby and agree with him 100%....did you notice that Bill O'Reilly likes Bill Cosby too? When a proven racist agrees 100% with what you are saying about your own people, perhaps that should give you a moment of pause. But it doesn't appear that Cosby is pausing....he spends too much time flapping his gums. As a professor, I have a saying "When you are 100% teacher and 0% student, you are 100% idiot." I wish he were still telling those corny jokes. Dr. Boyce Watkins is a Finance Professor at Syracuse University and author of “What if George Bush were a Black Man?” He makes regular appearances in national media, including CNN, ESPN, CBS and NBC. Yawn. More boring cookie-cutter comments from Cosby critics who offer no alternate solutions to what he proposes. All they do is parrot the same ol gibberish about a system that needs to be fixed, naive enough to think that their hot air will make America rise above the twins towers of racism and capitalism. Pragmatism has never the been the strong suit of these blow-hards who don't even talk a good fight. |

Chris -- "The Anti Cosby backlash is building." Don't count on it. More like "Dummies in the Mist" is what comes to mind when poor uneducated and under-educated black folks step up to the plate. Or perhaps the people that the Cos is referring to should step out of the eternal funk of black American irrelevance and breathe some fresh air for a change. Leave the KFC and the watermelon at home while you're at it. |

They could get to me. They could get me to be a Cosbyite. My punishment would be double his. He does have an excuse. Puddin Man misses them Jello commericals. He misses being Mr. Dad. He wants to get back there. If he starts shooting at disaster capitalism, crooked corporations, George Bush, his Hollyweird Pals, he won't get it back. He should let it go. It was all BS anyway. |

Or perhaps the people that the Cos is referring to should step out of the eternal funk of black American irrelevance (The adulterer, the serial rapist of white women, the parental failure is talking to himself. And so it goes. Negroes think they can rut like animals and shake their fingers at everybody else. Like Cosby, like OJ, like Kobe, they all reap their reward) |

'Or perhaps the people that the Cos is referring to should step out of the eternal funk of black American irrelevance. Maybe. But obviously they choose not to. Many are content with or indifferent to the self destructive lives they lead and decisions they have made. Others have arrogantly rejected the values and mores of their parents and grandparents. Thus the toxic consequences they face are the result of their own decisions. Racism or Cosby have nothing to do with it. "The adulterer, the serial rapist of white women, the parental failure is talking to himself." Wow! That was impressive. Lemme think.....Hmmmmmmmm......Chris, next time there is a drive by in your hood, look in the car and see if Cosby was the driver or doing the shooting. And when you pay the next disheveled street hooker on your block for morning back alley services, check to see if Cosby is her pimp. Also, ask all your crack head running partners if Cosby is supplying their drugs. Like you have suggested, if we could get rid of the Cos and get him to shut up, our communities would be safer, our children would suddenly erase any academic disparities with their white and Asian counterparts, homicides, rape, armed robbery, burglary, and assaults would drastically decline and your comic books would become much more affordable. Think about it.......

I understand what you are saying and maybe it would be better received coming from someone else but . . . who? Who's good enough to tell us that we should be doing better? As I understand this issue it's not WHAT he said but that he's not good enough to be the one to say it. Again, who is? It just seems that we are spending more time on whether or not he's the right person to speak instead of whether what he said is right and how to fix it. |

Crystal, There are LOTS of foks who are saying what Cosby is saying who have better personal records than he has. They just don't have his fame, dough and friends. Why are Black foks carrying on like if Bill Cosby (of ALL people) don't save us we're all doomed to hell??? |

Why are other black people carrying on like if we don't acknowledge that Cosby is the devil incarnate, we are all doomed to hell? And his star power is what gets the messsage out for people who support his views but don't have a public voice. As NTFS pointed out earlier, Cosby's settling out of court with accusers doesn't necessarily prove guilt, and can very well be a decision made to avoid prolonged court battles with willing partners who are more interested in financial settlements than in telling the whole truth. |

Who said Cosby is gonna save us? It sounds to me like he's saying we all need to work on saving ourselves. What's wrong with that? Yeah, maybe he should start with himself - we all should. But I still don't see how that makes what he's saying wrong. DISCLAIMER: I don't think I've ever read his entire statements on this subject - just a couple of soundbites from the taken-out-of-context media - so maybe I shouldn't even be in this discussion but ... It just seems to me that we are spending more time in shooting the messenger than considering the message.

I was surprised at the way this thing has blown up and I keep thinking "but is what he's saying wrong?" I have to say though ABM that I'm glad to see you're not throwing out that "how dare he say that around white folks" crap! As if any of us could say anything to change white folks minds - we know what they think and it ain't gonna change any time soon no matter what we do.

Face it ABM, they love Cosby and he could crap in their faces and they would moon over every word. He could tell them to line up and walk into the gas chambers and they would gladly do it. It is sad, but they can't help themselves. Years of watching him on that box have convinced them that he was really that person. They are programmed, they long for Puddinman to be back on, selling that Jello and making everything well in Cosby Heaven. They are, unfortunately, not rare in an America where people are increasingly unable or unwilling to process The Truth. "The Truth? You can't handle The Truth." Lines from a movie yet, true so true. Their children and grandchildren are the ones I cry for. |

Crystal, I found what Cosby intially said a few years back to be unnecessarily meanspirited and hostile. But, honestly, I think my biggest criticism of what Cosby has done is that it didn't cover how effete, unproductive and ineffectual ALL African American are, as a whole. Even the very strongest of us are still quite weak in juxtaposition to our White (and increasingly Asian) counterparts. To me, much of the source of the problems amongst the weakest of Black foks stem from those of us who think we are good and strong. And, yes, I'd include foks like Cosby amongst them. |

"So what you Cosby apologists think about America's Favorite Dad SETTLING last year with that Canadian woman he drugged and molested a few years back?" What do I think? I don't think anything since nothing was proven. Settling out of court means nothing. I've already discussed this. People settle out of court all the time. It's not an admission of guilt. Besides, as far as those other accusations were concerned, the investigative DA dropped them because of lack of evidence. "Why are Black foks carrying on like if Bill Cosby (of ALL people) don't save us we're all doomed to hell???" They're not. I don't know of anyone who believes Mr. Cosby is the answer nor is he going to save black America. And I don't recall anyone aggressively suggesting such. But to be honest ABM, I do find the hysterical emotionally driven personal attacks on this man to be hilarious and vicious at the same time. THE MAN JUST GAVE AN OPINION OF WHAT HE BELIEVES IS WRONG. Outraged thin skinned Negroes have been scrambling and stumbling over one another mounting one personal attack after another against someone who told the truth. They are so incensed at him for daring to question and openly criticize what they believe is a "coveted black secret", they they have conveniently (and deliberately) side stepped the issues he was lamenting about. Instead of debating whether there was any possible truth in what he said, they have chosen the cheap and easy route: LAUNCH PERSONAL ATTACKS AGAINST THE MAN IN AN ATTMEPT TO REMOVE THE SPOT LIGHT FROM THE IRREFUTABLE SOCIAL PATHOLOGY HE POINTED OUT. Why? Because it's the path of least resistance. That's right. Instead of honestly discussing the merits of his list of black underclass problems, they have gone into turbo mode, churning out one personal insult, unsubstantiated accusation and dispersion after another. Again, why? Simple, it's easier to attack the messenger than defend and intelligently rationalize the ugly undeniable. Just call the man names and accuse him of criminal behavior so people won't notice the continuous self destructive reckless behavior of those he pointed out. Such is the mindset of his detractors.

Ntfs, And when you make statements of about how other foks are suppose to conduct their personal affairs, you've signed on to being treated similarly. I mean, really, how can he squawk about how other Black foks, foks who are a lot dumber and poorer than he is, are suppose to conduct themselves when he doing the same dayam dirt? So, what, because Cosby has enuff dough, friends and connections to cover up his sh*t, he's to be given a pass? Kneegrows PUUUULEASE!!!! If he were man enuff to be forthright about his own problems, I'd give him a pass. Even welcome and appreciate his sharing how he's dealt with his own mistakes. Because to, to me, that would improve the chances of him connecting with foks (I assume) he wants to help. But what Cosby is dong is mostly just arrogant, aristocratic bvllshyt. http://www.hollywoodinterrupted.com/archives/jello_man_actor_comedian_educator_t abloid_bitch_andserial_rapist.phtml Here are the JUICY parts JELL-O MAN: Actor, Comedian, Educator, Tabloid and...Serial Rapist? - January 3, 2007 People magazine recently buried a rare investigative piece (Dec. 18) featuring shocking interviews with three women claiming that Bill Cosby "earned their trust, then sexually assaulted them," but - because the story was hidden in all the fluff that drives celebrity magazine sales - Cosby-as-serial sexual abuser is still essentially a non-story. With this exclusive report, Hollywood,Interrupted endeavors to change that. Two days after Ennis Cosby's death, 22-year-old Autumn Jackson and a male companion were arrested in Los Angeles after allegedly flying there to extort $24 million from the elder Cosby in exchange for not revealing that he was her father, following an extramarital affair with her mother, Shawn Upshaw, in the mid-'70s. In the ensuing trial, Cosby admitted to the affair and to having paid Upshaw $100,000 over the intervening decades and set up a trust fund in her name, but denied he was Autumn's father. Jackson refused to take a paternity test, and was eventually convicted of extortion and sentenced to 22 months in prison But even more recently, a new series of bombshells has threatened to eclipse everything that has come before it - including an allegation from 2000, when 20-year-old actress La'Chele Covington, who had performed a bit part on his TV series, claimed Cosby had fondled her breasts and exposed himself to her in his Manhattan home. No charges were ever filed in that incident. La'Chele Covington: Mr. Cosby! Put that thing away! Andrea Constand, a then 31-year-old former University of Arizona basketball star and athletic department executive at Temple University in Philadelphia, Cosby's alma mater, came forward to allege that after a dinner party in January 2004, Cosby drugged her in his Philadelphia mansion, touched her breasts, put her hand on his genitals and that she awoke with her clothing in disarray and the sense that she had been violated. Her father told reporters that Constand, who has returned to her native Canada, had been good friends with Cosby, which is why it took her until a full year to work up the courage to report the incident to authorities. Although no criminal charges were filed against Cosby, the comedian recently settled a lawsuit filed against him by the Canadian woman, seeking compensation from Cosby for "mental anguish," "post-traumatic stress disorder" and the "loss of enjoyment of life's pleasures." The terms of the settlement, of course, are confidential. Constand's lawyer, Dolores Troiani issued a statement that confirmed the two parties "have resolved their differences, and, therefore, the litigation has been dismissed." (Translation: Cosby paid a gang of cash to have another sex crime accusation disappear.) But that wasn't the only related lawsuit his wallet vanquished. On August 28, Hollywood, Interrupted broke the news that Cosby had reportedly settled and paid big bucks to avoid fallout from a 2006 lawsuit filed against his attorney Martin Singer and a tabloid newspaper by accuser Andrea Constand. In her complaint, Constand alleged that she had been libeled, defamed and her privacy had been invaded by Cosby et al. See complaint here. When Hollywood,Interrupted broke that story, mainstream news interest was scant, elucidating the complicit nature of the media doing everything they can to protect America's treasured icons. [In fact, when contacted, a wire service reporter actually told Hollywood, Interrupted, "We don't want to libel Mr. Cosby."] But, more disturbing is Bill Cosby's long-time, uneasy relationship with the tabloids. There’s More Attorney Tamara Green, 58, a former fashion model and ex-wife of The Wild Bunch screenwriter Walon Green, has come forward to claim in any oracle willing to give her ink that the comedian drugged and forced himself on her over 30 years ago. In response to comments by the Philadelphia district attorney that she perceived as indicating the charges against Cosby were in doubt, Green announced that she has the names of three other women who will testify to almost identical stories of being drugged and assaulted. Green also claimed a young woman by the name of Page Young was so distraught over a similar sexual assault by Cosby that she was driven to suicide by a fatal drug overdose. "Do I want everybody to know that he [Cosby] had his dirty paws all over me? No," Tamara told the Philadelphia Daily News. But, the attorney decided to come forward with her sordid story in defense of Cosby's Canadian accuser. Tamara says that it is her "civic duty and moral obligation" to come forward so that the Canadian woman would not be intimidated by the Cosby legal camp, nor would she be alone should her charges make it to the Philadelphia court room. Tamara claims that while she was a model doing cosmetic and Coca-Cola commercials in the early '70s, Cosby employed her to help him open a private Los Angeles nightclub. Suffering from flu symptoms one day, she decided to call in sick. Cosby invited her to lunch at the club that day. "Maybe you'll feel better," Tamara claims he told her. Tamara Green: I started fighting him and he's kissing on me, peeling off my clothes. When she arrived at the club, Tamara claims that Cosby offered her some pills that she says he told her were Contac. 10 minutes after taking the pills, she reports that she "was really stoned, I mean, smashed." Cosby then offered to drive her home and when they got to her apartment, she alleges that he attacked her by attempting to take off her clothes. "I started fighting him and he's kissing on me, peeling off my clothes," she said. After Tamara started screaming and threatened to throw a lamp through her window to get someone's attention, Cosby, she says, finally let her go. As a final indignity, Tamara alleges that he dropped two $100 bills on her end table and left. "That infuriated me," she said. Shawn Upshaw, the mother of Cosby's discredited "love child," Autumn Jackson, also told the National Enquirer, "I was put in the same position with Bill." When Shawn was visiting Cosby at his Beverly Hills rented mansion in the '70s, she claims that he slipped debilitating drugs into a drink he prepared for her. She then claims that the drink "looked strange" to her and she didn't want to drink it, but Cosby insisted she finish it. Then, she immediately started feeling out of sorts. "I knew definitely that I had been heavily drugged," she says. Although it was the last thing she remembered of the evening, Shawn claims that Cosby put her to bed, and she awoke the next morning "knowing I'd had sex during my sleep." The Deluge Independent research has confirmed much of the above. It also indicates that everything that's been reported so far is just the tip of the iceberg. Hollywood, Interrupted has fielded reports from numerous women with similar stories to tell, who have so far refused to contact authorities or go public with their stories, but who continue to monitor the cases against Cosby closely. These include: A respected former media professional, "Barbara," who reports that in 1969, after a meeting on the set of a television show, Cosby slipped her a mickey and forced her into oral copulation, after which he tossed her ten bucks for cab fare. (To this day, she refers to Cosby as "Jell-O Man.") An airline attendant claims that Cosby flew her and her aspiring actor brother to Las Vegas and put them up in a luxury suite, promising to share his professional contacts with them. The weekend, she claims, quickly devolved into a wash of booze and drugs, and the stewardess says she had to repeatedly fend off Cosby's inappropriate and aggressive sexual advances. (Comment calls to Mr. Cosby via his attorney Martin Singer were not returned). These women's stories suggest that for the entire 45 years of his public life, Cosby has been, in Shawn Upshaw's words, "an incurable womanizer," adulterer and serial rapist. Moreover, the duration and degree of these incidents suggest a parallel history, one that promises to be both explosive and shocking, once revealed in all its sordid detail. Developing...

Dr. King never raped any women. And he did not beat up on poor and disadvantaged black people. Your move. |

The thing that gets me is that he can RAPE women and these women still fawn over him. This is one reason men don't respect women. If you will give him a pass Why not the rest of us? |

"Ntfs, Riddle me this, Batman... So you've got PLENTY of dough. Got a bigtime name and rep. Beloved by all as America's favorite dad. Then, some chick out the blue says you DRUGGED and jerked-it on her chest. (A gotdayam CANADIAN chick at that.) You're going to secretly SETTLE with her even though you ain't done sh*t............" ABM, once again, the entire debate evolves around personal attacks -NOT WHAT THE MAN WAS POINTING OUT, RECKLESS AND IRRESPONSIBLE BEHAVIOR THAT SOME PEOPLE INDULGE IN!! Look, I don't know that this alleged incident happened. I can't prove that it did not. And you cannot prove that it did. What has taken place is legally defined as 'here say" and "unsubstantiated accusations". As I stated before, settling out of court is common and means nothing other than the accused has enough money to avoid further damage and legal costs. It's cheaper. THAT'S ALL IT MEANS. But please remember, it's a civil suit -not a criminal indictment. There was never enough evidence to support criminal prosecution or a Grand Jury hearing. Besides, let's just say it did happen (which can never be proven), what does it have to do with a large number of underclass Negroes destroying themselves????? That's what should be addressed and discussed. Bill Cosby is not making the streets of many black communities saturated with violent crime, gang infestation and lethal drug wars. "We often agree. But I can't ride with you there, Kemosabee." Understood. I can appreciate your dissent. We can be civil and agree to disagree. No problem.

MLK was a notorious womanizer and according to Ralph Abernathy, he did push his women around. Frederick Douglass brought a white woman into his house to live and reduced his black wife to the role of servant. JFK was also a serial adulterer, not to mention Bill Clinton. But do I fault these men for being imperfect? No. Because I don't invest my hopes in mere men. I am more interested in their missions. I didn't even bother to read all that crap you posted, chrishayden, because these women got paid big bucks and I'm sure they're pacified. So put your eyes back in their sockets and quit jackin off, as you fantasize about being Cosby. LMAO. |

Ntfs, Why are you and foks who support Cosby carrying on as if he's the ONLY mofo who's been saying what he's saying? Why is he getting any more attention and acclaim for such than countless other foks, many of who are much more actively involved in trying the address the problems than he is? We ALL know the troubling stats of Black marriages, OOW births, fatherlessness, imprisonment, unemployment, etc. So WTF is Cosby saying that we ALL don't already know? Haven't discussed a 1,000 times over? So, really. Even if I were cool with Cosby, I can't see what's uniquely special and moving about what he's doing. And maybe it's at least in part an issue of timing. I mean, it might have been a big help if he'd started some of this at the height of his The Cosby Show popularity. Maybe then there'd be more an ear for it. And maybe it would be tainted by the his pain of having lost his son Enis. |

BTW, chrishayden, I don't think MLK would've had a problem with what BC is saying about the civil rights legacy regressing. King would've been in his 70s had he lived and, like many people of that generation, would be disillusioned with the way things have ended up. |

What the heck are you talking about CH? "agree with" and "fawn over" don't equate. And if you’ve ever gotten “some” that WAS your pass. HAHA! ABM – you’re giving Cosby way too much credit. Who said his words were “uniquely special and moving”? I certainly didn’t. I just said they were right. It’s sorta like when crackhead Jerome says something like “Luquisha should stop hoe’n around and take care of the 6 kids she already got”. Yeah, he’s a crackhead but he’s right. Question for you: which person that has a national platform would you like to see deliver these lofty proclamations? Yeah, Rev. Johnson and ‘em have been saying this for years but only the congregation has been hearing it.

Crystal, Yeah. But how inclined are we to raptly enjoy the musings of crackhead Jerome, babe. Prior to 2003, I would have said Colin Powell. But Oprah could say it. Denzel could say it. Michael Eric Dyson could say it. Cornell West. Tavis Smiley... There are PLENTY of foks who have the credibility and esteem to say what Cosby's saying. And I ain't saying those foks are better than Cosby. But I'm not aware of them being involved in some of the sh*t Cosby gotten into. And I imagine they'd express their views in ways that seems to suggest they might actually care for those of whom they speak. |

I think so too CQ. You saw what kind of b[l]acklash Oprah got when she opened her school in So. Africa. Now that I think of it - why should we listen to Denzel? Yeah, he's cute but so was Jerome before he became a crackhead hahahahaha!
