I'm in a Thelonious mood today! NPR has several features on Monk, including a Jazz Profiles piece. (That's the series I think I posted about previously, hosted by Nancy Wilson.) http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=15159351 |

Thank you, thank you, thank you Ms. Yvettep! I just finished putting a Monk compilation together last night. Love Monks music. I also appreciate your music info updates. Gonna get the JazzIcon Monk DVD this week.

It Monk had never written another song, the haunting "Round Midnight", would be a great legacy. |

You're welcome, Cynique and Ntfs. TM was one of the first jazz artists I got into independently as a teenager. I think it was because he was a piano player like my Moms, grandmother, aunt, and whole line of other maternal kin. I wish I had stuck with piano lessons but I was always so impatient: I didn't want to do scales, I just wanted to play songs! LOL |

I'm in a Thelonious mood today (Well, this just goes to show Unca Chris doesn't know everything, now does he? I would have thought you were a Pat Boone, gal, Yvettep. Be careful. You might find yourself hanging out with me!) |

Pat Boone? LOL No, can't say I am a fan. And Cynique and I are on first name basis so it's OK that I am just "Yvette" to her. (Though note that when I first began posting on these boards, there was another registered user named Yvette, which was why I had to be Yvettep. Just don't want any mix-ups!) Re: kwansabas--no I haven't tried. I did see the examples you posted a while back. Maybe I'll try writing one for my blog around Kwanzaa time. |
