I've already mentioned Lynn Nottage. The MacArthur web site has a gallery of other people of color who were recipients of this year's award. A couple of them:
Lisa Cooper: Public Health Physician improving the quality of medical care for minorities in the United States by analyzing and developing new approaches to patient-physician communication.
Whitfield Lovell: Painter/Installation Artist paying tribute to the daily lives of anonymous African-Americans through poetic and intricately constructed tableaux.
