I attended the university of Illinois with Frances' older sister, and met Frances when she came down to Champaign-Urbana for a homecoming week-end. The thing I remember about her was how pleasant and reserved she was, seemingly overshadowed by her sister who was shapely and slender, carmel-colored and very quirky. I've often wondered over the years, what happened to make Frances, the daughter of a school teacher and a physician, turn into the militant angry woman she became. I have heard from others that the sister who was our classmate never underwent such a drastic change. |

For myself I am troubled by the lack of scientific evidence, study or statistics to back up her conclusions. |

I agree with Chris. There is certainly a lot of popular appeal, and I have no problem with such statements being offered as personal opinion. But the scholarly rigor seems lacking. |

Her therories do seem to be more like myth than science. But the power of myth should never be underestimated. |

Her therories do seem to be more like myth than science. But the power of myth should never be underestimated (Then she should present herself as a mythologist or her views as religious. Elijah Muhammad and Eldridge Cleaver presented these views before she did--I believe Cleaver recanted. What she does boils down to insult and namecalling, which is cool, but to present it as science is harmful.) |

Obviously, she doesn't want to dilute her credibility, but the views that cast black people as heroes and whites as villains, have a mythological vibe. |

"Her therories do seem to be more like myth than science." This is true. That is why she is alone and has no one in the world of academia or science who takes her seriously. I'm very familiar with her cockeyed pseudo-theories and rambles. It's insulting to anyone who has an IQ greater than their hat size. |

I think she is extremely intelligent - she was former faculty at Howard University and was removed from her position when the color theory arrived. I cannot help but think that since she is a psychologist that her "rantings" as someone mentioned are deeper truths than we choose to believe. The idea of domination is solely an obsession with Europeans - watch reality TV and the determination to win at ALL COSTS. Yes, there have been other ethnic groups seeking power - but not to the extent and consistant desire of white people. There is something to deconstructionist appeal. Example, the lastest shooting of Black boy #45 in city America - yesterday, later today or last month -- always the presumption - I thought he had a gun - yet the assailant was not shot at - Mmmm, minor observation but one needing serious study in this incresingly tense racial atmosphere. Finally, the academy will never accept anyone who challenges you to think outside of the box and question authority through simple observation peace |

"......... she was former faculty at Howard University and was removed from her position when the color theory arrived." As she should have been. Her bizarre and non-scientific rambles were an embarrassment to the academic credibility of the University. They saw it coming. "I cannot help but think that since she is a psychologist that her "rantings" as someone mentioned are deeper truths than we choose to believe." Only if you live in world of simple minded unprovable racist pseudo-theories that have no roots or association with empircal findings that cannot be verified. Personal opinions and fantasies do not count as well researched and academically sound facts. And she is a psychiatrist -not a psychologist. Which makes it even worse since a psychiatrist is an MD. "Finally, the academy will never accept anyone who challenges you to think outside of the box and question authority through simple observation." That's not true. People are constantly presenting academic arguments and positions that go against the grain. "The Bell Curve" by Charles Murray and the late Richard Herrnstein is a perfect example. Those who can stand the test of academic scrutiny and the rigor of empirical investigation are the ones who will weather criticism. She has not.

LMAO. Dr. Welsing is not unlike the biblical scribes who used the Garden of Eden scenario to explain the origins of species. The physician needs to heal herself. As a psychiatrist she should recognize that she exhibits symptoms of having a God complex. |
