"Ans: What does George Bush WANT him to say. Since he became a yes man he done shot up through the ranks past lots of senior men--" Well, looks like you answered your question. The man is beholden to Bush and he will report exactly what the White House wants him to. Don't think for one second that any of there Senior Flag Officers (i.e., theater commanders, JCS, CNO, CINC's, etc) are going to say anything that contradicts or embarrasses the president. Not going to happen. Why? It's not very career enhancing. There are no General Patton's or General MacArthur's around who are willing to go on record with their beliefs and assessments if it contradicts White House policies. Every time I see one of this political military marionettes speaking before a Congressional investigating committees or speaking to a press audience, I always laugh. They say what they are told to say. General Petraeus is no different. Bush has already handed him his script and he is not going to opine anything contrary to it. And I say this not to disrespect our military personnel. I have the greatest level of respect and gratitude for them. The military men and women in the trenches put their lives on the line everyday and they are only obeying the orders of those who are appointed above them. Once again, no disrespect to our service members in uniform. But I have no use for the politically appointed Flag Officers who are no more than neutered bureaucratic flunkies for the White House and the Sec of Defense. When I was in the military, I vividly recall two separate instances that involved the CNO and the Commandant of the Marine Corps. I won't detail it here but the two craven cowardly bastards lied their asses off in order to save their careers. WHEN THE TWO STORIES BROKE TO THE PRESS, THEY BOTH TOLD OURAGOEUS LIES OF DENIALS AND FRANTICALLY ATTMEPTED TO DISTANCE THEMSELVES FROM IT. Instead of stepping up to the plate and defending their men and acknowledging what happened, they lied and denied. I'll never forget that. It made me sick to my stomach.
