I give her six months tops--she will be into it with that little Miss Nazigurl before the year is out--but she will bring in some ratings by being controversial--
That seems to be the strategy at The View now--bring in a ringer every now and then to punch up the ratings. |

Whoopi could stay there as long as she wants. Regardless of what she does, she always keeps it real and the people like that. I have never watched The View (other than in passing) but I might check it out once she comes on

I think Shepard was a fill-in until they found a replacement for Rosie.
The other women will most likely defer to Whoopi since she is a bonafide A-lister with an Oscar and an Emmy under her belt. Plus she is funnier than anyone on the show (except maybe Joy Behar)
Whoopi won't be as polarizing as Rosie, but I wonder if Whoopi will get bored being a "team player"?? |

Whoopi is replacing Rosie, who replaced Meredith Viera, but a replacement for Star Jones was never filled and this Sherri Shepard, who is also black, is reportedly going to be in the rotation for that spot. I think Whoopi will clash with Republican conservative Elizabeth Hasselbeck, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It should make for spirited exchanges, not to mention good ratings. |

have never watched The View (other than in passing) but I might check it out once she comes on
(Stow the Smiley face, clown. If you ain't never seen the show you don't know how well she'd fit in.
She'll do fine until they bring up that time she had Ted Danson in blackface at her Friar's Club Roast (or maybe how the Kerry campaign made her persona non grata after her drunken debacles) and then she'll lose it.

Puleeze. Whoopi is not a tragic black woman and certain not a typical one by any stretch of the imagination. She never dates black men, and if she wasn't comfortable in her skin, she would use bleach and ditch the dread extensions for long straight blond ones and adopt a glamourous persona. Or do I think she gives a damn about her piccadillos of the past. She's bold and brazen and doesn't care what folks think. |

Poor silly ass Chris Hayden. Why would I need to see The View to know whether Whoopi would fit in. I've seen her interact with other people - for example on Comic Relief. And I've seen enough of her to know she keeps it real, she can think on her feet, and she's probably smarter than the other women on The View. What more is there to know?

Hey Robin, I forgot to call/email you. I've been on lockdown at the camp since the 31st. I'm in the computer lab for a minute so I thought I'd visit Thumperscorner. So far I've met a 17 year who dealt crystal meth, and a homeless AA 18 year old female(when she finishes camp she's moving to Florida)

I think Whoopi will fare better than Rosie because their temperaments are different. Rosie is insecure and high-strung and Whoopi is confident and laid-back. |

Big difference between the two A-Womon. Rosie is a self serving hard line dyke who is all about sensationalistic comments to provoke and insult. Whoppi is much more insightful and mature. She says things that need to be said albeit political correctness. She does not go out of her way as Rosie does does to make a point. Rosie is a tour de force provocateur. Whoppi tells things as they are minus personal promotion and bitterness. Big difference.

I don't know, I guess I had an image of Whoopi being a stupid clown emblazoned on my brain at a young age. I remember everyone talking about her and some white guy, I can't recall his name at the moment, but maybe he was a comedian too, They did some act together where the guy appeared in black face and spoke expicitly about thier sex life and whoopi's vagina. I guess I've never been able to see her as anything to get worked up over if she could participate in something like that. But it's only my opinion and so don't none of yall Whoopi lover's need to get all worked up over it. If you love her please, carry on. Maybe her view appearance may do something to raise my opinion of her. |

What separates whoopi from others that you label coonish and buffoons? This is a serious question. If she was party to the above mentioned, why do you see her as intelligent and mature, but others who have engaged in this same behavior get labeled? Just wondering... |

Well, Whoopi wouldn't have been so sought after for this position if she hadn't had an impressive "resume". She does have a serious side and is very socially-conscious and quite intelligent, in addition to being amusing. A while back, she briefly hosted a talk show of her own. She also occupied the coveted center spot on the Hollywood Squares game show when last it appeared on the air, as well as starring in her own sitcom for one season. |

She also did commercials for weight watchers and LA weight loss, and if I'm not mistaking, Jenny Craig claiming they all helped her lose weight, but she looked the same to me--except in her retouched photos...hmmmmmmmmmmm

When Whoopi did that coon act with Ted Danson it was for a Friars club roast and they were trying to make a point. You have to be familiar with the Friars club's history and how ribald and outlandish their "roasts" are in order to put her spoof in context. |

I don't know what NTFS' rationale is, but since I'm a great fan of satire, I appreciated Whoopi having the guts to rub people's noses in old stereotypes. Spike Lee did the same thing in "Bamboozled." These are examples of contrived coonism. Those currently being accused of coonism aren't even aware that they are guilty of it; they're just acting naural. |

Yep. It happened at the "Friars Club" when they had a roast in her honor. She orchestrated it because she said people knew roasts consists of tasteless and vulgar humor, which is very true. I saw a roast of William Shatner one night not too long ago. They roasted him and all the other members of the original Star Trek cast and everyone else who was there. Let me tell ya babe, it....was.... nasty..!!!! Wow! Lisa Lampanelli was there and you can't get any nastier and vulgar than her. Even she couldn't rise to the level insults that were being thrown at everyone who attended. Bottom line is this, what she (Whoppi) did was in context of the occasion.

Understood. A lot of people couldn't. But you must understand the context of the occasion and she was the one who created the skit. People take such things way too serious. Was it insulting? Yes. That is the purpose of such things. But as expected, some people cannot handle such risque provocative humor. It doesn't bother me because I know what they are doing and such things cannot hurt you unless you let them.

Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Well, I don't know about loving her but I do find her entertaining. And like I said, she is politically incorrect and I do like that. I've never been a supporter of racial political correctness. I never could get into -you can't say this and you can't say that, it's ok for me but not for thee, blah, blah, blah....... I've had some very bad experiences with PC disciples and practitioners and it has only increased my resolve against it over the years.

Snort. The Asian actor who played Dr. Sulu on Star Trek and who is gay made some very lascivious remarks in regard to his relationship with William Shatner during his roast. And they talked about Bea Arthur so bad, she was speechless. Also Whoopi and Ted voluntarily did their spoof because they knew that a Friar's roast was a perfect occasion to pull their stunt. During their long history of indulging in gutter humor, Friar Club Roasts have lampooned all ethnic groups. What Whoopi did was constroversial but - so what? |

How do YOU know why Whoopi did that stunt, chrishayden? And the fact that it wasn't funny isn't relevant. And it's not like Ted Danson was her first white lover. She has always dated white men and was previously married to 2 of them. Or are her features particularly negroid. If she was a dysfunctional "self-loathing negro" she wouldn't present herself the way she does; she'd alter her appearance. Her last white boy friend, actor Frank Langella, said they broke up because she never had any time for him so she is not that bedazzled by white men. You're just buying into the old cliched rationales. You don't know what goes on in Whoopi's head. She has created a unique persona as her chosen name so obviously attests to, and this character has taken her further than most black female entertainers. As was previously noted, she's won an Oscar, a Tony, and an Emmy. Sheeze! |

The Friars is made up of mostly comedians many of whom are Jewish who have never hesitated to slam each other about being jews, not to mention how Italians were ribbed about the mafia. And who, besides a black Whoopi made anti-black remarks on the occasion of her roast?? It's so stupid to make an ongoing big deal out of this incident. |
