I know that a lot of black people are boycotting IHOP due to their treatment of blacks. If this is anyone here, you'll be interested in this news. I can't speak for other areas, but I know that in the Atlanta metro area, black single people nearly LIVE at Applebee's. According to this link: http://money.aol.com/news/articles/_a/ihop-to-acquire-applebees-for-19b/n2007071 6080609990002 IHOP is going to buy Applebee's, so keep in mind that if you don't want to put any money into the pockets of IHOP now there are TWO restaurants you should avoid. |

Damn: I thought that was Denny's. I always got treated well at IHOP. I always got treated well at Denny's, too. Maybe I'm really a self loathing negro and don't know it-- Plus I always tip good. |

I've NEVER had any racial problems at IHOP. But, hell, Most of the IHOP's I've visited in recent years appear to be most of the IHOP's I've visited in years years appear to be mostly managed and staffed by BLACK foks. |

I had read recently (within the last six months) that some black people were boycotting IHOP because they were mistreating black customers in more than one area. I didn't know if anyone here was or not. There are only 2 in Atlanta that I know of. (Actually, I think one may have closed). |

Normally if there's an organized boycott, it's announced by an organization such as Rainbow/PUSH or the NAACP - not the rumor mill. Has there been any such declaration? My advice to anyone who is mistreated by restaurant staff or any other business - make an on-the-spot-correction, complain to management, leave, complain to headquarters, complain to consumer organizations. Most importantly, spend your money elsewhere. You don't have to sit there and be treated like dirt. As to IHOP, I haven't eaten there in years, but if I were stuck on the side of the road and there's an IHOP in sight, I'm having stuffed french toast and steak and eggs. And I'm not boycotting Applebee's either.

"IHOP is going to buy Applebee's, so keep in mind that if you don't want to put any money into the pockets of IHOP now there are TWO restaurants you should avoid." Why would you do that? The problem seems to be at a particular IHOP and not the chain itself. I've eaten at IHOP before and I received very prompt and courteous treatment. Negroes always lose sight of real problems. It's not IHOP as a national business chain but rather the personnel and management at a particular IHOP that needs to be dealt with. If you receive poor treatment at an eating establishment (or store), you should immediately request to speak to the senior management to voice your complaints. If that does not work, seek redress from the big bubbas at corporate head quarters and threaten to go to the press. Asking everyone across the nation to boycott a business because some individuals received poor treatment at one particular IHOP among hundreds or thousands, makes no sense. Only if it is an across the board policy (originating at the major corporate level since it sets the SOP) of the chain to discriminate, should there be group action taken at national level.

It's a problem if the national management refuses to deal with it. Just eat at more independently owned black restaurants. There are enough, unless you live in a tiny town. |

"It's a problem if the national management refuses to deal with it." True. But they have to know about it. So how is that going to happen unless some one calls it to their attention. What is the offending franchise going to do -send a message to corporate head quarters and announce; "Oh yeah, by the way, we actively discriminate and disrespect our black customers..."???
