Bush commutes Libby's sentence Photo from BBC News By Mark Silva Washington Bureau Published July 3, 2007 KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine -- President Bush, calling the prison sentence for Lewis "Scooter" Libby "harsh" and "excessive," on Monday commuted the 30-month term that had been handed to the former chief of staff for Vice President Dick Cheney. The surprise commutation of Libby's sentence fell short of a full pardon that some conservatives had sought, but invited a flood of criticism for the president—who has issued few pardons during his presidency but now has intervened in the case of one of his own former aides. Libby served not only as Cheney's chief of staff but also as an assistant to Bush. I told y'all Scootie was going to get a pardon, didn't I? Although I must admit, I didn't think that POTUS would be so bold as to pardon him while he is still in office. http://www.thumperscorner.com/cgi/discus/show.cgi?tpc=23046&post=90821#POST90821

since when is a 21/2 year sentence for a federal offense "harsh" enough to warrant a pardon by the president? This president continues to use the power of his office to satisfy his every whim. |

"since when is a 21/2 year sentence for a federal offense "harsh" enough to warrant a pardon by the president? This president continues to use the power of his office to satisfy his every whim." Ya got that right! But no surprise here. Libby and all the right wing ideologues knew this was going to happen. Besides, he had to do it to appease his hard line base who are losing faith in him because of his ongoing conscious and deliberate failure to do anything about illegal immigration and the spiraling out of control debacle in Iraq. The man is on the ropes.....

He had to do this. If he hadn't Libby would have sung like a canary and brought them all down. The only possible good thing that can come of it is that now the Democrats will investigate them to death. I hope everybody realizes that we are governed by a Criminal organization. |

Scootie would not have sung like a canary. POTUS is simply looking out for his boy, that's all. If we were in the WH cheating and conspiring and one of us got busted, we'd do the same for each other, right?
