I thought Negroes said they would rather live in the U.S. than anyplace else. Now you all want to move to Dublin. You do that and they'll hate Negroes like they do here. Spread out! Spread out! |

I've only met one Irish couple. They (in particular) seemed nice enough. Even gave me their phone number and told me to call them whenever I'm in Ireland. I looked at the paper, and said "thanks" to be nice, but was thinking "WHEN THE FUK AM I EVER GOING TO BE IN IRELAND?" I don't think I kept that paper for even 24 hours. The woman was actually bi-racial, but they were definitely Irish. I love meeting people from around the world. |

like any place youre going to have those that hate outsiders no matter what color they are...from what ive heard of ireland you do have hategroups there but i also heard that most people there wont bother you if youre black and they have a genuine curiosity about black people...but i heard that there are a few places that you can go in ireland (like some of their pubs and bars) where they are not very welcoming. i remember one irish guy telling a story about how when he took his black girlfriend to one of the irish bars they had to leave because the whole bar was giving them dirty looks and it seemed like they were about to gang up on them and start some shit. he says that he's actually seen bad things happen to this one other guy who brought his girlfriend to one of the bars ..for instance one guy gave him a "kiss" meaning he stuffed a broken bottle in his face. anyway, its good to hear they have a black mayor. it is a bit surprising especially when there are hardly no blacks there. |

The Irish; especially in England, famously get on with Jamaicans and other blacks because both groups were subjected to persuecution by the English when they first arrived in England in the 1960s. They kind of stuck together, and when you go to areas like Notting Hill there is still evidence of west indian and irish ties. That is because of the famous signs outside boarding houses saying 'No Blacks, No dogs, No Irish'. Which meant all three groups were shunted to certain areas of London, such as Harlesden and Notting Hill. |
