IMO, Monique didn't do the show any justice last night. She ranted on and on about injustice, tried her best to shove the "fat women is in" mantra down everyone's throat, and she looked like a fat scarecrow that was dunked in a can of rancid refried beans and rolled in cow s.h.i.t. Furthermore, she spent too much time trying to deliver political messages instead of leading the audience and hosting the show. |

I don't think anyone even watches B.E.T anymore much less the B.E.T awards. |

Yeah. What were you even doing WATCHING the show? And then sat up watching it for hours, being disgusted all the time? |

Your critique was kinda harsh, Nels, but I pretty much agree with it. I watched the show because I am interested in seeing what's going on in the black entertainment industry. I thought Beyonce was sensational and I also enjoyed the duet between Jenifer Holiday and Jenifer Hudson. One thing the pop culture vulture did boycott, however, was the Paris Hilton interview last night. There's nothing about her that interests me. |

"I don't think anyone even watches B.E.T anymore much less the B.E.T awards." I don't. Its just a another media conduit to inundate and brain wash a generation of young blacks with the corporate sponsored dysfunctional coon culture. |

Instead of sitting down in a comfortable position, I guess you are on your feet, running around in a circle when you read a book, chrishayden. It figures. And after all of this time you obviously aren't aware that this site is also dedicated to black culture, and your not have a broad scope of interests, explains why you are such a one-dimensional bore. BTW, unlike you, I don't have a rigid mind. I can alternate between reading books and watching TV. |

Vascillating people like chrishayden who diss Bill Cosby, emulate his stance when they put BET down. Having said that, whether you approve of this venue or not, the BET Awards showcased an authentic facet of black culture. And it helps if you acquire more perspective and less elitism when judging artists whose brand of music doesn't conform to your individual taste. I watched this show because it was entertaining, and not offensive at all. Diva Diana Ross who is not a hip-hop artist was honored with a life-time achievement award for her contribution to Black music. |

A couch potato is someone who stays sitting on the couch (or other form of inactivity) and it doesn't really matter if they are reading a book, watching TV, listening to music, talking on the phone or playing with themselves. LOL!

LMAO. chrishayden has a life. But it's a mudane one. Not surprising since he is the center of his universe and he's a big dullard.

Chris, I thought you had more depth than you've displayed. Now that your blood pressure is up a little, just think about all of the other things we could have been doing like watching billionaire Warren Buffet explain why he paid a tax rate of 18% on his 2006 income of $46 million dollars, while a nurse who made $60,000 in that same year paid 30% on hers. |

Nels: "...like watching billionaire Warren Buffet explain why he paid a tax rate of 18% on his 2006 income of $46 million dollars, like watching billionaire Warren Buffet explain why he paid a tax rate of 18% on his 2006 income of $46 million dollars..." Screw the tax. Buffet's worth over $50 BILLION and his taxable income is a measly 46 million??? His CPAs and tax attorneys are some fluckin' GENIUSES!!! |

"His CPAs and tax attorneys are some fluckin' GENIUSES!!!" True. But don't blame him. I'd do the same. It's the Republican and Bush endorsed tax laws that allow this kind of thing to happen. |

like watching billionaire Warren Buffet explain why he paid a tax rate of 18% on his 2006 income of $46 million dollars, while a nurse who made $60,000 in that same year paid 30% on hers. (He pays it because the American public is too yellow and corrupt to do anything about it. I ain't mad at him. I just wish I could afford slick tax attorneys to tell me how to do it and/or buy me some legislation-- This is the system you got and you apparently like because you think one day you will be able to take advantage of it. Deal with it. NOw, re BET, I used to be like you. A helpless couch potato. I'd see a commercial that said, say SAmmy DAvis Jr. is going to be on a program. "Oh, no! I'd moan. And I'd watch it, agonizing and complainging. And complaining afterward. Then I discovered the off button. When those people let you know you are going to be watching some crap, which is about 98% of what BET has, excercise some free will. Turn it off. But you love torturing yourself and crying the blues about it.) What are you saying Chris? That you have a life but we don't? (What do you think?)

Warren Buffet pays less taxes because he's a corporation. That's just the way it is.

Chris -- "But you love torturing yourself and crying the blues about it..." Absolutely laughable. "Couch Potato" Absolutely the opposite. You missed the point too. In other words, the Buffet story was worth little mention, but it was still enough to merit usurping the BET show. |

Nels, I meant to say "Screw the tax RATE". (Getting old. *sigh*) But I think I got and concur with your point about there being more pressing issues for Blacks to be concerned about than the (predictable) squalor of BET. |
