Thu Jun 07 2007 11:45:47 ET Reverend Al Sharpton, President of National Action Network, and one of the country's foremost leaders for civil rights, is blasting the justice system for what appears to be favoritism in the early release of Paris Hilton. "Though I have nothing but empathy for Ms. Hilton whom I have met and appeared with on Saturday Night Live the night I hosted in 2003, this early release gives all of the appearances of economic and racial favoritism that is constantly cited by poor people and people of color. There are any number of cases of people who handle being incarcerated badly and even have health conditions that are not released. I have served several sentences for civil rights and civil disobedience actions and I even fasted which caused health concerns to prison authorities who paid for a doctor to come see me daily rather than release me. This act smacks of the double standards that many of us raise Developing... http://www.drudgereport.com/flash5.htm

It was hilarious that anybody thought this rich gal was gonna do time-- She starts getting sick--suppose she died? The lawsuit would bankrupt the justice system. She's rich. White. Jail isn't for her. Most of you would have said so yourselves. Hahaha! Only in America. Money talks and Bullshit walks. By the way, all you AALBC posters--don't try this at home. You'll be in the jail so far back they'll have to pump air to you! |

I didn't think Sharpton would be the one to raise hell, I just knew somebody had to do it, and now that I think of it, Sharpton is the perfect somebody. . . . . That shit was beyond immoral. It was classism on a level I never saw before and of course it was racist and the shit was even sexist in a way! Good lord! That's like all the -isms and shit! It is definitely not the message we want to send the next generation. Kudos to Al Sharpton for speaking up!

This is going back to the pokey!!! Sharpton Denounces Hilton's Jail Release Jun 7, 9:00 PM (ET) NEW YORK (AP) - The Rev. Al Sharpton denounced Paris Hilton's release from jail on Thursday, saying it had "all of the appearances of economic and racial favoritism." "I think that it's both another glaring display of how race and money seem to get different treatments. There seems to be a different criminal justice system for some than others," Sharpton said. After three days into a 23-day jail stint, Hilton was fitted with an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet and released to the comforts of her 2,700-square-foot Hollywood Hills home due to a mysterious and unspecified medical condition. But hours after Hilton was sent home, the judge who put her in jail ordered her into court to determine whether she should be put back behind bars. Hilton must report to court at 9 a.m. Friday, Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini told The Associated Press. "My understanding is she will be brought in in a sheriff's vehicle from her home," Parachini said. Although Sharpton said he has "nothing but empathy for Ms. Hilton," he doubted similar treatment would be offered to minorities or poor people. "There are any number of cases of people who handled being incarcerated badly and even have health conditions that are not released," Sharpton said. "But I think that it gives a very bad signal when Ms. Hilton is treated any differently than any other parole violator in their county or in this country." No details were available on the nature of Hilton's medical condition. Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore refused to answer questions about whether it was physical or psychological. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20070608/D8PKAL4G0.html

Who cares if she dies. People die in jail everyday. They have doctors at the jails you know. I hate this •••••! (This is why they didn't let Negroes out of the cotton patch til 40 years ago. If they will award the family of a black who dies in the jail tens of thousands of dollars, what do you think they would award the family of someone who stood to inherit, and was worth, billions of dollars? Fool, they wouldn't even HAVE a jail when they were through suing them. And if I was the Sheriff, I'd throw her out, too. You love this system. You keep on praising this system and this is what the system is about--rich white people don't pay the same penalties the rest of us do. America. Love it or leave it. |

This ••••• is going back to the pokey!!! (Careful. What if her family has people monitoring the net, tracking down people who talk against her. If she DOES go back to jail, it will be jail like Bugsy Siegel had--sitting up in his cell with a carpet on the floor, in his suit, leaving nights to party, being served by waiters, talking on his own phone, with the warden coming by every so often to see everything is ok. You are always praising America. This is what it is. Jail and beans for us--everything for them. |

Classism and racism. People suffer from depression and nervous breakdowns in prison every day (often because of their new enclosed environment). Are people sympathetic to them and let them off after only going through a fraction of their sentence?! And this 'undisclosed illnss' - do me a favour! Paris cracked, and oh well, that is part of prison's rehabiltitation and retribution. It is meant to be a horrible environment so you are prevented from doing the crime again. And I know she is under house arrest. But how much do you bet she prefers her house than a jailhouse? Yep, being in prison and knowing you can't get out may not be as hard as being in your house and being so close to the front door and freedom? But her home has her home comforts. Some guy told me he got whacked out off his face on drugs when he was under house arrest because all his friends came round to see him. |

Do these people's parents have the ability to deposit thousands of bucks in a Swiss Bank account? You're kidding, aren't you? Are y'all watching this craziness on TV??? The cable news channels aren't even taking any commercial breaks!!! (Of course not. What matters is what is going to go on behind closed doors. If Al don't shut up he's going to be wearing concrete overshoes. That judge is going to wind up cleaning toilets) |

The judge should have sentenced her to some hard labor out in the hot sun. That way she wouldn't have time to sit around and feel sorry for herself, contemplating suicide or whatever her bullshit issue was.

There was a press conference called to announce that the head of the joint chief of staffs was stepping down, and the cable news anchors could hardly wait to cut away to the Paris debacle. |

Right now she is in a "psychiatric facility". Make that her own private room with cable, draperies, shower, maid service, etc. Right now Arnold Shwarzenegger's phone is burning up. He is thinking of challenging Diane Fienstein and he is getting calls that he won't be getting a thin dime if he don't do something about it. The judge is going to wind up cleaning toilets. This morning the news announcer said she is headed back to the pokey for "a couple of weeks". Thought she had 45 days to do. Already the wheels of justice are turning. America. I love this country. |

What a moron. There's no public outcry directed towards the Cali governor's office about this crybaby crackhead. Most people think she deserves to be in jail. And what toilets will be judge be scrubbing, exactly? Yours? Doubt it. Go eat some carrots or fish or some other brain foods because you just keep getting more and more clueless. I think senility and ALZ is starting to set in on your ass. Here's some guidance: http://psychologytoday.com/articles/pto-20031028-000010.html

Everybody is up in arms about Paris Hlton. What I want to know is why was this white woman who shot her preacher husband in the back while he was sleeping was only charged with manslaughter and sentenced to 3 years on probation half of this time to be spent outside of jail. She claimed that her motive was that he was making her life miserable and the jury apparently felt sorry for her. Maybe she had grounds for murder but but the punishment certainly should've fit the crime. |

Cyn - I'm glad that woman got a short sentence. Maybe all of these abusive husbands will check themselves after knowing that if they act stupid, their wife/girlfriend can shoot their dumb ass and keep on steppin. I saw a little of this case on COURTTV and the wife claimed the husband humiliated her in the bedroom by making her wear wigs and engage in "unusual" sex (whatever that is). And that he was abusive. The justice system has always favored men in domestic discords, perhaps we women are finally going to have EQUALITY in dispensing our own form of JUSTICE

Yes, I know she was a sympathetic character, but the jails are full of women serving long sentences for "offing" men who did them wrong. And once her trial was over, this woman didn't look that vulnerable. She seemed smug, and to have a perpetual smirk on her face kinda like she was thinking that I showed that bastard. I wonder if her light sentence will be an incentive for other wives to kill their mates for mistreatment. LOL |
