Sinners repent (you know who you are)!!! Or you're going to HELL!!! Pope Says Hell And Damnation Are Real And Eternal By Richard Owen in Rome March 28, 2007 HELL is a place where sinners really do burn in an everlasting fire, and not just a religious symbol designed to galvanise the faithful, Pope Benedict XVI has said. Addressing a parish gathering in a northern suburb of Rome, the Pope said that in the modern world many people, including some believers, had forgotten that if they failed to "admit blame and promise to sin no more", they risked "eternal damnation - the inferno". Hell "really exists and is eternal, even if nobody talks about it much any more". The Pope, who as cardinal Joseph Ratzinger was head of Catholic doctrine, noted that "forgiveness of sins" for those who repented was a cornerstone of Christian belief. He recalled that Jesus had forgiven the "woman taken in adultery" and prevented her from being stoned to death, observing: "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." God had given men and women free will to choose whether "spontaneously to accept salvation...the Christian faith is not imposed on anyone, it is a gift, an offer to mankind". Vatican officials said the Pope - who is also the Bishop of Rome - had been speaking in "straightforward" language "like a parish priest". He had wanted to reinforce the new Catholic catechism, which holds that hell is a "state of eternal separation from God", to be understood "symbolically rather than physically". Agostino Paravicini Bagliani, a church historian, said the Pope was "right to remind us that hell is not something to be put on one side" as an inconvenient or embarrassing aspect of belief. It was described by St Matthew as a place of "everlasting fire" (Matthew xxv, 41). "The problem is not only that our sense of sin has declined, but also that the world wars and totalitarianisms of the 20th century created a hell on earth as bad as anything we can imagine in the afterlife," Professor Bagliani said. In 1999, pope John Paul II said heaven was "neither an abstraction nor a physical place in the clouds, but that fullness of communion with God, which is the goal of human life". Hell, by contrast, was "the ultimate consequence of sin itself. Rather than a place, hell indicates the state of those who freely and definitively separate themselves from God, the source of all life and joy". In October, the Pope indicated that limbo, supposed since medieval times to be a "halfway house" between heaven and hell, was "only a theological hypothesis" and not a "definitive truth of the faith." http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,21460090-2,00.html

Jackie, Dobie, Toboggan and Sinique - All y'all are going straight to hell unless you repent, say 75 Hail Marys, and pray the Rosary. Shame on you for dogging the Pope. Damn SINNERS!!!

All I gotta do is drive a wooden stake through the Pope's heart and all sinners will be redeemed. |

LOL. The reason I posted this is because I was wondering the same thing too. How does the Pope know what's going to happen to us after death? My belief is that when you die, you're just dead. No heaven, no hell, no purgatory, no afterlife, no reincarnation, nothing. Just dead.

The Pope hat looks like the fish god, doesn't it? I'm not Catholic although I pray with Rosary beads. I actually collect Rosary beads since I need all the help I can get. Because El Paso is a Catholic town, I observe some of the local customs - eating fish on Fridays and things like that. Come to think of it, quite a few Black folks that I know are Roman Catholics. I never even gave it much thought.

Don't get me started, Mzuri. I derive comfort and find intrigue in believing that the soul survives the body and exists in the spiritual realm, going through different phases before returning to The Source. In our earthly form we are just energy - vibrating matter, and in this dimension all we know about is that which is vibrating at the same rate as we are. Just because the human brain has not evolved enough to process all the things our visual organs see, doesn't mean that these things are not there. This is why a camera lens can capture strange things that sometimes show up in a photo, images that escaped the naked eye. A lot of this is verified by quantum physics. Reality is relative. And since my husband passed, I have experienced some weird things. BTW, I had to write this post all over again because when I finished the first version it just disappeared from the screen! Woooooooo. |

Yes Ma'am. I sometimes believe that the soul endures. And sometimes I wish for reincarnation, just not today. Sometimes I worry that I'll come back as some lowly lifeform such as a sponge or a sea urchin. And sometimes I believe in ghosties and supernatural occurrences too. But you're right about the camera picking up images and children are very perceptive as well. There are just so many things that we will never know. As to your data dump, sometimes when I'm posting something lengthy, I type it up in NotePad and copy and paste it over. It's kind of difficult typing long posts and editing in this little text box - moving pix around etc. It also saves retyping in case if there's a glitch

This is true, Mzuri. Sometimes I want to cringe when I later see all the typos and misspellings and omissions in things I post. Lately it's like my hands have a mind of their own and become erratic. Then when I skim over what I have written my brain adds the words I have ommitted. And when I revise and cut and paste, I leave words in that should be deleted. Oh well. Since so many here seem to be fixated on me being old and in the early stages of Alzheimers, that provides me with an excuse for my lapses. LOL. |

Wrong, chrishayden. I don't drink while I'm posting but a lot of times I'm distracted by something on TV or I'm talking on the phone or trying to carry on a conversation with one or another of my kids who have stopped by when I'm in the midst of responding to an attack on me. |

ShuT uP Chris! Madam Cynique - I have always been a perfectionist with my typing work as far as proofreading, and I've been lucky to have exceptional typing skills so that I don't make so many errors in the first place. But I noticed that when I turned 40 (or thereabouts) I wasn't as perceptive as I was before. My typing started getting worse and I didn't catch my errors as easily. So all things considered, your posts are exceptional. Besides, this is just a message board. Have you seen some of the atrocious mistakes and misspellings that some of these people make? Confucius says: The eye cannot see its own lashes. Veritas

Thank you, my dear. Anybody who doesn't believe Mzuri has a civil side should take note of the patience she exhibits with ol Cynique. As for the incorrigible chrishayden, he oughta get a job as a vendor and go stand out in front of an insane asylum and yell: "Peanuts!" |
