September 29 is Marry your Baby Daddy Day. We should contact this woman and make it a national holiday. 70%? That's higher than I'd imagined. http://abcnews.go.com/2020/story?id=2970103&page=1 |

LOL....that's the most unoriginal bs you hags have come up with yet. And from the baby mamas' queen. LOL, how ironic. There's GOT TO BE something else for you two to do other than hanging out here all day being reminded that you're bitches. I'm SURE there is. Go to the mall, call your local cable company and see if they have Matlock or something, or go out for coffee. Just copy and paste this the next time you want to read the same old same old..... YOU'RE BOTH BITCHES AND HAGS AND THERE'S A REASON YOU'RE ALONE. I won't even copyright it. Feel free to print it out and paste it on your mirrors so you won't feel the need to hear it so often from other people. Or at the very least, do something original for once, and leave your home for a few minutes to be called a bytch by NEW people. You already know how we feel. THIS IS REALLY BORING ME. YOU'RE BOTH BYTCHES. PLEASE KNOW THAT WITHOUT HAVING TO BE REMINDED ON A CONSTANT BASIS.. |

I honestly can't relate to this phenomenon. I come from a very old-fashioned family where people get married, have children, and stay married even when those mofos don't need to be. The women in my family are deemed "fast" or "loose" if they’ve had too many "experiences" with different men, and the kids are instantly regarded as "illegitimate" when they're born out-of-wedlock; yes, even to this day. So to me this 70% figure doesn’t sink in all that good. And I can vouch for the claim that shaming people for their acts do work extremely well. Which is why Tonya keeps her shit on the DL. They don’t know the half. |

Renata - You seem to have a really bad case of being surly and too uptight. I only asked you if you were going to marry your babydaddy, but I should have asked if your babydaddy is ever gonna marry you and claim your mystery offspring. In light of the fact that you're so uptight, I doubt it since men want someone with whom they can enjoy themselves and relax. You need to loosen up some and get a sense of humor. Take a joke, laugh a little. Be more charming. At the rate you're going you will have a heart attack and a stroke before the big day.

LOL... QUEEN, I've been married for 8 years...that's as far as I'm going in this conversation with you. Tonya, yeah, that does seem quite high to me, too. I would have imagined about 35%. Most of my black friends have no kids at all, but they're about my age or older. Your case is about the same in my family also, with the exception of the younger people, however. Women and men aged 19 to 28 seem to already have 2 or 3 kids. And of those in that group who do marry, they seem to want to do it AFTER the kids are born. |

Ol sorry-assed renuta had to write an essay to show how much she doesn't care about what I say. She's so dense she can't figure that I've "been there, done that" and if I loll around in the comfort of my den, multi-tasking, it's by choice! If all the drivel she spouts is an example of what people who are out and about have to offer then deliver me from that! Talk about youth being wasted on the young! ROTFLOL. BTW, you forgot to answer my question, dingbat. |

No no no, you don't understand. I'm not advocating your technique of getting your babydaddy to marry you - the entrapment method which entails getting pregnant, having a baby, and waiting around until whenever he comes around. I recommend the attraction method. "The Secret" way. With this method he will really WANT to marry you . . . for you. It's the best way of capturing and retaining your babydaddy's man's heart. Trust. Believe.

For those who can use the information to their advantage: As the old adage goes, "life is what happens when you're busy making other plans". That is so quite true! Go to college, move to whatever town you want to, go out with your friends every weekend (or every night if your schedule allows), move to another town just to swim in the ocean, move again to see the mountains, hang out in the bohemian part of town and learn to paint or play a bamboo flute, or whatever floats your boat. For some reason, men seem to love women they think they need to "tame" or "domesticate". A challenge I guess. You don't even HAVE to be wild....or maybe they just want to grab you before you move on. Sit at home and wait for him to ask you out every weekend and they're going to assume you'll BE at home every weekend, so why rush? "She'll be there next month". |

When you honestly think about, Black foks are reproducing in manner that's LESS sophisticated and mature than much of the rest of the animal kingdom. I mean, hell, even lions, deer, wolves and many forms of birdlife actually couple and commit to feeding, protecting and raising their progeny until their young can take care of themselves. Yvettep, Just as many babydaddies have multiple babymommas, many babymommas have multiple babydaddies. So if all of them just picked one of each other to marry, it'll all work out. And, btw, if BOTH Black men AND women were committed to MARRYING prior to making babies, there be FEWER multiple babydaddies/mommas to begin with. |

And we're able to SURVIVE while doing whatever we want, with whomever we want, in ways that we could not before. Abm, ^^^^ While you've made a valid point, I think it's more complicated than that. I think if more Black Americans, especially Black female Americans, had access to quality health care, the situation we see today (70% of children born out-of-wedlock) would change drastically (as well as some other major health issues facing the black community). In my opinion, healthy communities start with healthy minds and bodies. I also think that it's criminal that the government could do more about this but chooses not to.

Moonsigns, You're going to have to expound upon your argument of how quality healthcare will lessen the Babymomma/Babydaddy phenomenon. Because what we have now are many Black fok who DO have good jobs, educations and healthcare programs making babies outside of marriage. This, to me, is far MORE that just a healthcare issue. What we have here is a paradigm shift in how Black men and women fundamentally think and expect to have and do with each other. And that will NOT be cured via Blue Cross/Blue Shield. |

Black people are notorious for not going to the doctor. Even when they can afford it and have health insurance, they still don't go at the same rates as whites. This statement is not made based upon some statistical scientific study but from my own observations of friends/associates/acquaintances and family - plus it's common knowledge. If Black women went to the doctor/health care provider in greater numbers, more of them would likely be on some form of birth control. They'd also be more likely to have greater self-worth and self-esteem, thereby reducing the babymomma drama.

What has happened is that for young single black women, having a baby out of wedlock carries no stigma. It has become like a badge of honor or a rite of passage. But the negative ramifications of this "custom" pervade the black community. Too often these single women become repeat offenders and their fatherless, ill-behaved children crowd the classrooms and these undisciplined kids, along with their belligerent mamas, make it difficult for teachers to teach, a situation that sends young black boys out into the mean streets, ill-eqipped to find work, left with no choices but to bond with gangs and impregnate young girls who proceed to produce a new generation of babies that will go through the same dead-end rountine that drives them to commit the crimes that cause them to end up in prison just like their fathers before them. It's a vicious cycle. |

If the future babymomma went to regular doctor's visits, she would know the answer to that. But since she's obviously part of the Black underclass who doesn't receive healthcare or who otherwise refuses to seek it out, she's clueless to what I said.

Middle to upper middle class. And I regularly visit the doctor, dentist, etc. This is because my family was in the military, we had easy access to medical facilities and so it's just part of my routine. However, I know that most Black people do NOT like to visit the doctor. Black women especially don't like getting pap smears, etc., and Black men are just as bad about getting their annual check-ups.

Abm, I'm short on time right now; however, I will "say" this (like I "said" before): Healthy communitites begin with healthy minds and bodies. To expound a (wee) bit more; When people have the proper awarness/information regarding how their body works, the environment to choose a health care plan that suits their needs (in all respects -from doctors, specialists, trainers (if needed), to the capital to obtain healthy, nutrient-dense foods), it is incredibly self-empowering. And statistics overwhemingly prove that non-whites, especially American black females, do not receive adequate health care (all the way around). Therefore, generation after generation is less empowered, and with our current "sex-sells" culture, this has proved to be disastorous for many black females of low socio-economic backround as well as their off-spring. AND stats also show that, even when middle class black Americans, male and female, seek medical treatment, they (generally) do not receive the same treatment as their white counterparts. And to me, that is criminal!!!! All around, it's just criminal! Oh -and also -stats also prove that, when black people have a primary health care physician who also happens to be black, their all over health is generally better. My children's pediatrician is black and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Moonsigns, I agree good healthcare is essential. I just don't that as being the crux of the issue. If anything, I'm just as inclined to consider it a PRODUCT of other problems and that it really won't be adequately addressed until OTHER issues are (e.g., Black men/women pooling skills/resources to better birth/rear children, better educated/informed populace, more Black researchers/doctors dedicated to serving the Black community, etc.). |
