I warned all of you. Everybody over 21 is no doubt on a pervert watch list Conn. Bill Would Force MySpace Age Check Mar 07 1:24 PM US/Eastern By SUSAN HAIGH Associated Press Writer HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- Connecticut lawmakers unveiled legislation Wednesday that would require MySpace.com and other social-networking sites to verify users' ages and obtain parental consent before minors can post profiles. The bill comes a day after a man was sentenced to 14 years in prison for using MySpace.com to set up a sexual encounter with an 11-year-old Connecticut girl. It was one of the first federal sex cases involving the popular site. Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, who met with other attorneys general on Tuesday, said 10 to 20 other states are considering similar legislation. "The technology is available. The solution is financially feasible, practically doable," he said. "If we can put a man on the moon, we can check ages of people on these Web sites." Under the proposal, any networking site that fails to verify ages and obtain parental permission of users under 18 would face civil fines up to $5,000 per violation. Sites would have to check information about parents to make sure it is legitimate. Parents would be contacted directly when necessary. MySpace did not immediately return a call seeking comment. The bill, which is scheduled for a public hearing on Thursday, would apply to any organized online networking organization, including chat rooms. Parents, school administrators and law-enforcement authorities have been increasingly warning of online predators at sites like MySpace, whose youth-oriented visitors are encouraged to expand their circles of friends through messaging tools and personal profile pages. It has more than 100 million registered users. The site has responded by expanding educational efforts and partnerships with law enforcement. It also adopted new restrictions on how adults may contact the site's younger users and has helped design tools for identifying profiles created by convicted sex offenders. The site's current policy bars children under 14 from setting up profiles. Users who 14 or 15 can display their full profiles _ containing hobbies, schools and any other personal details _ only to people already on the teen's list of friends. Others see only the bare-bones profile, listing username, gender, age and location. But MySpace relies on users to specify their age. News Corp.'s MySpace is the largest social-networking site, with more than 100 million registered users.

This scares me more than your report on perverts LiLi Report: KKK on the rise in NJ Eyewitness News (New Jersey - WABC, February 7, 2007) - According to the Anti-Defamation League, one hate group in particular -- the Klu Klux Klan - is seeing a surprising and troubling resurgence. In fact, there are 20 states with growing Klan chapters, and New Jersey is one of them. Eyewitness News reporter Nina Pineda has the story. Border control and immigration, gay marriage, a black or female president -- issues which divide a nation give fodder for a century old hate group to strike anew. Deborah Lauter, Anti-Defamation League: "They use language of hate and that these people are coming into our country and taking over. So if somebody is economically distressed or they are worried about their lives ... they look for a scapegoat." The recent report by the Anti-Defamation League found an alarming rise in white supremacist activity -- the KKK is on the rebound. "They are attracting youth who tend not to wear the white hoods that the older generation wore. Part of the philosophy is they tend to be more skinhead type," Lauter said. Today's KKK doesn't have to rally in public places. Instead, they can hide on the Internet and secretly spreading their hate message to a whole new generation and a bigger audience. They are doing that by getting to a larger audience using streaming video, advertising white power rallies and concerts, even broadcasting a new Klan newscast. The anti racist group's research found states with growing Klan chapters not just in the south but in Michigan, Ohio, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. George Bauries, Executive VP Sentinel World: "Southern New Jersey is a problem. I was an FBI agent for 12 years in New Jersey in the Newark field office ... dealt with every county, every town, and southern Jersey was a problem ..." The Klan's message is to preserve the American way, but their activity takes law enforcement time away from fighting terrorist internationally, stretching resources and manpower now to deal with a growing problem at home.

How can 100 million anonymous people be on a pervert watch list??? (How can they be on a National Security Database? I'll let you answer that, fathead) Knee jerk over reaction bullshit. It won't work. Could never pass the ultimate approval -The US Supreme Court. (This jerk must live on another planet. You forget that the Conservatives hold the court? You ever hear of Homeland Security? "I warned all of you. Everybody over 21 is no doubt on a pervert watch list" but so what? if you arent a pervert then you dont have to worry about anything..so it doesnt bother me (The thinking of a stooge. You don't HAVE to do anything. The pervert watching game is a business. The law enforcement people cannot say that there are none. We know there are some. The need to report in that they have so many suspects under surveillance, etc. Elsewise they get their funds cut or people get fired. How are six year olds winding up on no fly lists. Keep on screwing around up there, you idiots. Of course, after they knock down your door, arrest you and haul you off in front of your neighbors in handcuffs, you will clear yourself--maybe--after you spend money on a lawyer. Of course your neighbors will just say you got off, not you were innocent. He or she who has an ear to hear, let them. He or she don't--you are the idiots who make the world go round.

My initial thought is this is mostly a kneejerk response to a few foks being parentally negligent. I mean, how the hell can/should a well-raised/managed ELEVEN year old be able to sneak off and fuhk some dude, anyway? My second thought is How the hell can this law be enforced without essentially miring Myspace in a bunch of adminstrative bvllshyt it can't possibly manage, much less AFFORD?. And my last thought is If this bill is passed, it may signal the death knell of the internet 'chatting' phenomenon - including what occurs HERE - as we know it. But then, perhaps I'm being a tad negative... |

(The main thing is people are paranoid about this as hell. I'm not saying I want them to do it. I'm not saying its right. Nowadays you got to watch your contact with children. I don't even speak to them unless their parents introduce them or something Watch your backs, people. You could get caught up innocently in a robbery, murder, anything and people will laugh about it. But if this stink gets on you it might not come off-- |

If this law is passed, what's to stop them from demanding that Troy require we all who regularly visit this site to submit private, personal documents about ourselves? |

chris.....you "stooge...."something you're completely missing is...they have to PROVE it first before they can arrest you. as in they have to catch you in the act of trying to get at some kid or else you can sue their asses off. i dont even allow 17 year olds on my friends list unless i know them already. |

there are ways to know peoples real ages. 1 way is by seeing them on their webcam...another way is by going to certain messageboard groups...you should be able to get a sense of the ages by having experience with them on certain groups...and talking to them, etc. just like i can tell you and chris arent children...i would have no reason to doubt the fact that you all are adults. you can also hear a persons voice over the phone. its hard to explain but there are just what i call "common sense vibes" that you can get from people that tell you rather they're real or fake or lieing aobut certain things. would i have any reason to think that kola boof or you or tonya were younger than 18? |
