Oprah recently showcased a new book called "The Secret" which is selling like hotcakes. She got so much response from the first show that she had a second one on the subject today. What is the secret? Well, from what I can glean, the secret is to focus on and visualize images of yourself being the best person that you can be so that you will be better equipped to help others. Energizing these images with positive emanations will then bring them into fruitition and the the rewards of success that will flow your way should be accepted with gratitude rather than pride as you use them to help others. Oprah says this was her personal credo, and it worked. When one of the guests on the show mentioned that the "mediocre" always criticize "excellence", she almost peed on herself. The show was full of a lot of little catch phrases and platitudes like this, but the underlying message of "the secret" is worth contemplating. |

I forgot to mention that I'm beautiful, well-spoken, well-read, practical, thrifty, intelligent, and a perfectionist. That's not to say that I'm perfect - I just try to make things perfect. I don't know what "The Secret" is but from what I've gathered it is that attraction is the most powerful force on earth. This is an old concept. And I'm tired of Oprah pimping these crappy books on the public. Oprah is a !!!

Yea, Mzuri, the "secret" is really just about the dynamics of prosperity and seeding your money and doing good for others so that it will come back to you. Nothing new. This is one of the tenets of the Kaballah I believe, and probably the bible too. But there's sucker born every minute so if you can feed them all of this pap and make money off of it then you're a living example of the secret. I received a large inheritance when my sister died 6 years ago, making me the the beneficiary of her numerous banks accounts located all over the city of Chicago. I gave almost all of the money away, trying to help everyone in both my immediate and extended families and that was that. I guess I should be grateful that I have enough left to buy bananas and apples and walnuts and pomegrante/blueberry juice, all of which I'm convinced attribute to my good health! |

My favorite thing about cooking is that you can combine things in millions of combinations and you can make whatever you want BTW, I'm the nachos and pizza for breakfast type. Although the standard is potatoes, eggs and some type of meat meat, I'm very unconventional about what I eat and when. I like to eat whatever I want whenever I want which is probably why I've never had a weight problem.

I used to be a slave to the what I felt was approprate cuisine for breakfast lunch and dinner. Now I eat whatever I feel like, whenever I feel like it, without observing the traditonal menus like bacon and eggs and grits for breakfast and a ham sandwich for lunch, and steak and salad and baked potato for dinner. I also cook up a big pot of chili or stew and feast on it for 3 days or however it takes until it's gone, and as we all know, chili tastes better on the second day and even better on the 3rd. |

In answer to your question, Dobes, everybody has something they are good at. For years I bowled in a postal league, and as much as I tried - experimenting with varying ball weights and wrist bands and different approaches, unlike so many of my teammates, I was never able to elevate my average above the 135-140 range. But in time, I started to notice things that I could do that they couldn't, like writing a complete coherent sentence, or working a patternless crossword puzzle. Sooooo - it all kinda balances out. |
