Grey's Anatomy star Isaiah has been under fire for calling his co star T.R. Knight a faggot during a dispute on the set of the show. After denying that it never happened and embarrassing himself at The Golden Globe Awards Isaiah has decided to stop playing the angry black man and apologize. The fact that ABC scolded him may have had a lot to do with it too. |

Well, 24 killed President Palmer in 2005 and they just killed "Curtis" this week, so who's to say that GA won't kill Dr. Burke? |

You know...I hope they don't fire him over this B.S. I mean really. This whole "controversy", to me, is PETTY. And the whole big deal over Michael Richards was PETTY as well.

Jasmyne Cannick---a very important Black Lesbian Activist and someone I greatly admire has written a superb article about the HYPOCRACY of "White Gays" and their over-expectations concerning Isaiah Washington and this situation. It's very insightful and powerful and worth reading. http://eurweb.com/story/eur30933.cfm

Kola, Thanks for the link. Cannick's right. Many of the same self-righteous White queers are everybit as RACIST as straight White foks. But they get to HIDE behind this protective shroud of progressiveness that fallaciously accompanies being openly queer. Also, part of what really bothers me about what's going down here is I've YET to read anything that reveals the CONTEXT in which Washington called Knight a phag. I mean, what if Knight STARTED and AGGRAVATED the incident that preceded what Washington said? |

Let me tell you something ABM...
and this has happened If I am giving a speech about the various issues that we all discuss here----let's say in a MALL there's a crowd of 65 people ----a White Woman (married to black man and has mixed babies) becomes thoroughly upset at what I am saying to the BLACKS in the crowd. She huffs to the point of verbally challenging me----I end up calling her a "typical two-faced selfish white bi.tch"----I remind her, AS AN AFRICAN WOMAN..... that I did not travel 22,000 miles to see her WHITE ASS or any of the "WHITES" in the crowd---"I came to see my got-dayum children! I could give a fu.ck about your white ass! I didn't invite you and I don't have any interest in white people --so I'm not prepared to address your concerns. You have no value to me". OK. Now there's a trio of GAY white men in the crowd. Becky isn't "clever enough/fast enough" to really SHOUT ME DOWN...so they step forward (3 White Gay Men) to take on "Black Jungle Queen" on behalf of the white lady. WE GET INTO A SHOUTING MATCH--Probaby much similar to Washington and Knight. The first thing these 3 Gay WHITE men bring up: (a) bitter black bi.tch (b) Go back to Africa! (c) that's why black men can't stand you (d) "my hair weave" is mentioned whether I'm wearing one or not---ALL black women "need" their hair weave ripped out. (e) you're just jealous of WHITE WOMEN because they're "prettier" and "nicer" than you "black-E-mo's".....even your own men say it! But I'm supposed to suport the FIRING of a Black man that I personally think is one of the FEW truly Black men in Hollywood over a similar "shouting match" in which he called someone a "faggot" out of anger---and YES---out of prejudice. No. I shake my head. NO. He can be counciled, he can be made to be more "sensitive" to his position as a PUBLIC FIGURE and representative of ABC----but should he be FIRE???? Absolutely not. And me personally....I was PISSED AS FU.CK when they fired Michael Richards. I mean...what did he really say???? I would rather GET RID OF "BET", Montel Williams, Taye Diggs, Ward Connerly and keep Michael Richards---and that's my true heart.

Kola, I guess you catch plenty boos from White mothers of biracial children, huh? Regarding the acendency of f-word: I guess this is the natural consequence of there having been such rhetorical power afforded to the n-word, though, certainly phag is nowhereNEAR being in the league of the historical enormity and malevolence of niggur. Btw: I thought the gayboys LOVE dem some Kola Boof |

I guess you catch plenty boos from White mothers of biracial children, huh? I don't blame them--because I'm not FOR THEM or AGAINST THEM anyway. I'm totally indifferent to them and their children. I see them as outsiders--a different race. They would be welcome in my home for dinner and I can love them as "Human beings", because GOD requires that all Humans have LOVE for all other human beings---but I don't see them as MINE. When I look at black people, black children--I am looking at what is MINE. When make statements to that fact---then WHITES realize that I am not "niggerstock", I'm not a "nig/ger"---and they become ANGRY. They become fearful. So I understand the "boos" from that SORT you mentioned. |

I always remember what happened to Eric LaSalle in ER. It was painful to watch him brought down from man of steel to HIV, etc. I was afraid the new writers of Grays would need to weaken the black characters. . . And sure enough, that is what is happening. As far as Isaiah Washington's denial on the Golden Globes. It came out like the stuff we've been getting for ever, and just as rude. Sticking a repugnant word in an apology, doesn't make it any more palatable. I don't think they'll fire him. I'm afraid they'll keep him on, and make him a drug addict and a 'fag'. |

What if he had said early on, I said it, I was angry, can we move on. I myself did that. I cussed out someone but I took responsibilty for it and told everyone I felt bad about it and it should never have happened but that person had been fucking with me for several years and I'd had enough. But my behavior was not something I was proud of. Whats ironic is, the people in the community gave me high 5's and attaboys while I was trying to apoligize to them for my actions. Maybe Washington..had reached his breaking point because we have no clue why he said what he did. LiLi |

ALL WOMEN, ABM... ...not just "white mothers" are that insecure about everything ...hell about being a woman...but about everything. I'm insecure, too, which is why I've GROWN INTO a "clannish" African woman. If Blacks were not being ERASED from the landscape in this country---then I am certain that I would feel very differently towards these women and their children. But they "symbolize" another WEAPON against my people---they are the symbol of my people's death and erasure via colorism and race evil. In the abstract: I love them ONLY because God wants me to. But if a biracial child was to become orphaned (as I was an orphan)--and I was the only hope that child had for survival --of course I would take that child in and be a mother to it. I would strengthen and love it--but I would never really see the child as "ME".

Kola, Do you have or have you ever had good personal relationships with White mothers of biracial children? My wife has a friend who adopted 2 biracial brothers 10 years ago. We suspect she adopted the boys largely because they're lightskinned and have wavy hair. The friend has had so many problems with the boys (who are now grown) that she now regrets adopting them. |

ABM, I have good personal relationships with quite a few "white mothers" and their biracial children. There's a woman in South Africa who had a child with an African chief and we've become really good friends via EMAIL. She's Jewish and wrote to me after he refused to acknowledge her child. I took in a girl and her baby for a while as well. I have several.

All White people are welcome in my home. That includes dinner and a stay-over. I've had romantic affairs with White men and lived with a white man for 5 years. None of my views have to do with "hating" anyone--I love all human beings. I just don't want to be anything other than my own race. That's my point.

Kola, while these peckawood booty bandits where defending the peckawood bytch, what were the black people you came to see doing? Just standing around? No way in hell I would have just stood by and let let you or any black person being yelled to by 4 stank azz devils all by yourself. It would have been ON like donkey kong. I'm glad you checked that bytch so thoroughly though. I don't understand why whites try to make it their business to understand or correct what blacks think, say or feel. Just because that lice headed, slack jawed wh.ore and those uni-ball having fags thought bouncing on some black dyck somehow made her an authority on blacks in general and everyone should be like her didn't mean it was true, lol....and I'm glad you made them painfully aware of that. I mean, what if Knight STARTED and AGGRAVATED the incident that preceded what Washington said? Last year Washington, and the other co-star, Dempsey got into a heated exchange, on the set, while waiting for another co-star, Knight, to come to the film a scene. During the outburst Washington uttered the word to Dempsey, but in direct reference to Knight -- supposedly, I wasn't there. There was an apology from Washington regarding the tuff with Dempsey, Knight came out publicly, and everybody thought all is well. Not so, last week while being interviewed after the Golden Globe Awards, Washington said that he did not called Knight a "faggot", added, it never happened. To which another co-star said that "he [Washington] needs to just not speak in public" lol Then ABC said it was taking the situation "very seriously," called Washington's actions "unacceptable" and said the issue is "being addressed." Thus, Washington's latest apology: "I apologize to T.R., my colleagues, the fans of the show and especially the lesbian and gay community for using a word that is unacceptable in any context or circumstance. By repeating the word Monday night, I marred what should have been a perfect night for everyone who works on "Grey's Anatomy." I can neither defend nor explain my behavior. I can also no longer deny to myself that there are issues I obviously need to examine within my own soul, and I've asked for help. I know the power of words, especially those that demean. I realize that by using one filled with disrespect, I have hurt more than T.R. and my colleagues. With one word, I've hurt everyone who has struggled for the respect so many of us take for granted. I welcome the chance to meet with leaders of the gay and lesbian community to apologize in person and to talk about what I can do to heal the wounds I've opened. T.R.'s courage throughout this entire episode speaks to his tremendous character. I hold his talent, and T.R. as a person, in high esteem. I know a mere apology will not end this, and I intend to let my future actions prove my sincerity."

Community Activists to Protest Blackface Minstrel Show in West Hollywood WHO: Community Activists including The SCLC of Greater Los Angeles L.A. Urban Policy Roundtable Gentlemen's Gentlemen In the Meantime Men's Group Youth Adovocay Organization Out & About WHAT: Protest Against The Factory Nightclub in West Hollywood for Scheduling Blackface Minstrel Show During Black History Month and Refusing to Cancel Show After Outcry from Community WHEN: Friday, January 26, 2007 6 p.m. WHERE: The Factory Nightclub 652 N. La Peer Dr. West Hollywood, CA 90069 Located between Melrose Ave. and Santa Monica Blvd. 1 block west of Robertson Blvd. Suggested parking for protest participants is at West Hollywood Park or the Pacific Design Center BACKGROUND: LOS ANGELES – Community activists in Los Angeles will hold a protest outside of the West Hollywood nightclub The Factory in response to its refusal to cancel the performance of a white gay comedian who performs in blackface and promotes negative stereotypes of Blacks. Charles Knipp describes his character Shirley Q. Liquor as an inarticulate Black woman on welfare with 19 kids. Through his character, he promotes the idea that Black women are on welfare, living in the projects, illiterate, shoplifting sexually promiscuous mothers who don’t know who their children’s fathers are, alcoholics, and drug addicts while in blackface. In addition, he mocks the African American holiday Kwanzaa and in a skit entitled “Who Is My Baby Daddy,” Knipp likens sexually transmitted diseases to traditional African American names. Reverend Eric P. Lee, executive director of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference of Greater Los Angeles states, “Race relations in this country have historically been derogatory, disrespectful, and denigrating towards African Americans. In light of the race based crimes increasing in Los Angeles, it is extremely poor judgment by the ownership and management of The Factory to promote this public display of bigotry. “Charles Knipp’s character is an insult to African Americans everywhere,” commented protest organizer Jasmyne Cannick. “Aside from the content of the show, the fact that he uses blackface just takes it over the line. The Factory is being irresponsible in promoting an artist like Knipp, and especially during Black History Month.” “There's nothing entertaining, funny, or endearing in promoting deeply insulting and dangerous racial stereotypes,” said Earl Hutchinson, President of the Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable. “Charles Knipp's (aka Shirley Q. Liquor) blackface routine does just that. The Factory has so far refused to do the right thing and cancel his racially offensive show. The cancellation would send a firm message that bigotry under the guise of humor will not be tolerated. The club's gutless refusal and Knipp's appearance must be swiftly and loudly repudiated by any and all who believe in racial fairness and justice. The demand must be that Knipp cancel his act and apologize.” “Four hundred years of false images have led to the misrepresentation of Black people,” commented Ayuko Babu, director of the Pan African Film and Arts Festival. “This madness has got to stop.” “People will do whatever they have to do for a profit without a conscious," said In the Meantime Men's Group Inc. founder and executive director Jeffrey C. King. "Today is a new day and we are not going to sit idly by and do nothing while our culture is misrepresented." After repeated requests by the community to cancel the show, last Friday the clubs manager said that the show would go on. The West Hollywood City Council has not been able to persuade the club owners to drop the act but is passing a resolution discouraging the act at its February 5th meeting. Activists plan to hold various demonstrations around West Hollywood if the show is not cancelled, including at the West Hollywood City Hall.
