Obviously certain individual blacks - like Cynique, Lil_ze, Ntfs "take me in your mouth" Encryption, Enchanted and Eastwest - are naturally skeevy. But could it be that black people in general are skeevy?
I mean, WHY are Herpes, AIDs, chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphillis and genital warts more prevalent among blacks than among any other racial group in America? That implies that we as a people are kinda nasty
Are we having more sex, more different partners, having more risky sex? What? This is something that we can't blame the white man or blame lightskinned women for!!! |

I think part of the reason why there maybe higher rates of communicable diseases amongst African Americans is we're more likely than others to reside in densely populated urban areas. This makes it easier for people to engage in high risk behavior with a much greater number of other people. And even though of us who don't live in these are probably are only one intimate relationship from those who do. |

It's very sad isn't it? I don't like men being unfaithful - but I understand that it happens. But why must so many of them have UNPROTECTED sex while being unfaithful.
I'm settled down now. But when I was dating I dated mostly black men but also some white. In my sexual relationships, the white men were fairly good about using condoms. Most of the black men were very very eager to "hit it raw" and I had to almost pressure them into wearing a condom. I found this odd, because they hadn't seen negative test results from me - so why would they be so gung-ho about literally plunging in without protecting themselves?? For all they knew, I could have been HIV+ or had some other STD.
Strangely, in Nigeria, where people would have you think everyone is fucking bareback all the time - I had a fling with a guy a few years back and when I talked about condoms, he had a pack with him and was totally happy to wear one. Back in AMerica, I'd hear excuses like, "I'll pull out before I come." And "it won't feel so good with a condom" and "condoms are too small for me." LOL One guy I was with even pulled the fucking thing off without me realizing thus putting me at risk for STDs and pregnancy. |

2. Female condoms are significantly less reliable protection against pregnancy and STDs as are male condoms

Here's the thing, though. Every sexually active woman could at least keep a female condom with her. That way, if she's in a situation with some nikka who's really iffy on wearing a rubber yet she's still down with giving him some (though WHY at that point she would be is BEYOND me), she can do such while being able to, at least mildly, protect herself.

I was out there awhile myself before I marry. I remember being in SEVERAL scenarios where chicks told me it was okay to cut without a prophylaxtic. Thankfully one of the (few) great life lessons my father taught me was "You bettah strap-on that rubber, Boy!".
And, as I said before, there are a lot of DISEASED women out there 2. I remember reading some article that said as high as a 1/3 of all sexually-active African American women have herpes. Moreover, studies assert there is a HIGHER rate of herpes infection amongst Black women than there is Black men. So this means the issue is not so much about there being all these men with herpes as much as it means sistas are getting infected via boning the SAME men.

Abm, honestly, if huge numbers of black women are having unprotected sex, then I have no idea why they are being so irresponsible. When I was out there dating, I made sure to NEVER be on the birth control pill. That way I absolutely HAD to ensure that a condom was used - otherwise I could risk falling pregnant. If I had not been 100% diligent about making sure my men wrapped it up, I'd likely have five illegitimate kids by now, by five different daddies - or have had five abortions. Because of condom use I managed to have an active sex life and come out of it with no STDs, no unwanted kids and never having had an abortion.
Plus, I'm not even sure that unprotected sex feels any better physically for women than condom sex. I can understand why it feels better for men. But I have no idea why black women seem so keen to let any ole Tyrone, Lashawn or Lamont they met in the club that night literally get inside their most intimate parts, without using protection. Ewwwwwww |

My point basically is that this issue will NOT be solved by simplistically blaming men (or women). BOTH are going to have to be made to be more responsible and accountable for what they do. And the easiest way to make a man (or women) behave more responsibly is to make it plan/clear that you will NOT allow your privates to be trifled with.
Abm, I wish I knew! I can only hope that when I have children, I will be able to successfully teach them to love and respect their bodies and NEVER put themselves at risk. For women, when we have sex, we are literally inviting men INSIDE our bodies. That is not something I think it's a good idea to do with strangers or people we've only known a few weeks. And to let a person you barely know inside your body without wearing a condom, is not self-loving, self-protective behavior.
Maybe there is something deeply wrong in the psyches of many black women that makes them carry on not respecting their bodies. Perhaps it is the same sickness that makes some of us bleach our skin or or wear laughable weaves when we are ashamed of our own hair texture. |

Could be, Abm. With ONE exception, every (black) boyfriend I ever had was not at all forthcoming when it came to condom use. At best, he would say in a disappointed, "oh, ok" when I insisted on condom use. 7 times out of 10, the man would not have condoms with him. Once a man looked at me like I was trippin when I asked him if he had any condoms I kicked him out of my house). It is AMAZING to me how much unsafe sex seems to be going on. I was definitely made to feel like I was trippin for insisting on condoms. Abm, I deleted that post. Anyhow, this happened when I was 18. I'm 31 now. Yes, it did fuck me up. I didn't ever report it or get therapy for it - and it is obviously too late to report it now. Okay. This is going to sound like I'm blaming sistas. But really, I'm not. I just want to make a point: IF so many men with whom you've considered engaging appear to not want to use condoms it's PROBABLY partly because up the point in which they met you they did not have to use them.
They've gone YEARS dealing with myriad women who allowed them to cut bareback.
If, from the giddyup, it was made plain in clear there's no-glove-no-love, they would have been trained to expect strap on that latex(sheepskin).
The character of men is formed by women just as the character of women is formed by men.
But, like you say, if so many "beautiful black girls and women who will inexplicably open their beautiful legs and give up the snatch to any triflin motherfucker who hollers at them", there's a certain character of men that's being formed by such.
Very few Black men are so large they're popping condoms like popcorn. And even if there's a fairly high rate of such, it's STILL better to use them and risk that occurring that not using any at all.
And, btw, you should have thought double-overtime about being in a relationship with any man who didn't PROACTIVELY produce a condom before sex. Because you GOTTAH know there's a HIGH chance of their being some stray babies and/or microbes within the general vicinity of'em. |

MANY of the women I know have been sexual assaulted in someway.
And that's only the one's who've shared their pain with me.
It's, alas, a terribly universal issue/problem. And it's something us MEN should do a lot more to thwart. Though, since so many Black men are estranged from their women and their daughters, that makes sistas all the more vulnerable to predatory men. |

Yeah, you are right. I can't argue. And also, had one of those condoms that I forced them to wear BROKEN or COME OFF - I'd have been in real trouble because suddenly I'd be fucking not only them but every hoodrat and other sexual partner they'd been with in their lives. Scary stuff.
The most ludicrous experience was an upper-class brother from Zimbabwe I dated for a few weeks. When it came time for us to first have sex, he SHOCKED me. He wanted to not only go unprotected, he also wanted to put his thing (which was teeny-tiny, about the size of my thumb) UP MY ASS. So this dude, who hails from a country where a HUGE number of people are HIV+, expected to put his UNPROTECTED maggot-like cock UP MY ASS. And, he had seemed normal and my coworkers and friends had loved him up until that point. WTF???????????

Sex is and always will be a DANGEROUS enterprise by which to undertake. And no amount of steps to indemify yourself of trouble will prove 100% indefatible, foolproof protection of trouble.
So you're going to play the game, you just play the odds and percentages that are less likely to lead you into trouble. |
