who are your favorite rappers? And why? Mine are:

1. Ghostface Killa: I just love his strange, stream-of-consciousness flow, even though I can't understand what he's spittin' half the time. He's got a very unique voice.

2. Nas: love his flow, love what he has to say. It doesn't hurt that he's hella cute.

3. Lauryn Hill: ill, ill voice. To me she is one of the best female MCs of all time. I wish she'd hurry back with a new album.

Abm my favorite soul singer is Otis Redding and Chaka Khan. I listen to a lot of gospel and prefer Shirley Cesar and Yolanda Adams. Miles Davis is in my cd changer in one car and my other car has nonstop Pavoratti. I do not listen to much rap or know much about rap music other than what my sons expose me to. They love Eminem and I have grown to really love his music and he's my favorite. You constantly pick on me so I am going to stop answering you.

Aesthetically, these artists are phenomenal lyricists:

Rakim "I was a fiend before I became a teen I melted microphones instead of cones of ice cream..."

Spoonie Gee "As for the way we scream and shout, one by one I knock'em out..."

Big Daddy Kane "..so stick a quarter in ya ass, cause ya PLAYED ya-self..."

FEMALE:

MC Lyte "...and like tha fat on ya back, it's plain ta see that you're a wanna be..."

Honorable Mention:
Positive K "Let's discuss this - listen while I bust this It's from the K, so hey you can trust this.."

Just ICE "Going Way Back"

Newbies with hysterical flows:
Cam'ron
Lil Wayne

HOWEVER, most if not all male rappers are FEMALE and SELF HATING bastids!!!! (grin)

most of the male rappers are NOT FEMALE hating "bastids" (as you say).

those rappers are just telling it "as it is".

what these rappers say in their "raps", is just what MOST males think about females.

im just being honest.

yes, lil wayne is nice, but for him to diss jay-z (who im not even a real fan of), and claim he is the BEST rapper out there, is out of line.

J-HOOD "tales from the hood" coming.

"double o, got the glow, like leroy nigga, j-hood the 2006 b-boy nigga"

"how you a boss, and don't know what a brick cost, your wife rubbin my d*ck wit her mouth-i guess its lip gloss".

J-HOOD BITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nellie. My midwestern home boy. His beats are so infectious that they captivate me. My Chicago homeboy Kanye West although he's a faggoty egomanic. I think Jay-Z is the total package. Who says a rapper has to look like a matinee idol? Ice Cube's "It was a Very Good Day" is a classic, as is "Lose Yourself" by Eminem. Those are some of Nana's favorites

Um, I'm shook that someone in their 60s has favorite hiphop artists. Usually that age group gripes about how there ain't no "real" music anymore.

I see you, Cynique...gyrating to Pimp Juice. Girl, do you C-walk or gangsta groove when a Nelly jawn is played? What about drop it like it's hot? Lean wit it or rock wit it? LOL.

BTW, Nelly is fione and his tunes are very catchy and fun.

I still hit the dance floor whenever I hear Nelly's "Hot in Hurr." That is a classic hip-hop jam. I agree Nelly is quite a looker, but he could lose that grill - and his sliding a credit card in that rap hoochie's ass was a big turn-off.

I don't listen to hip-hop myself, except vicariously through my 15-year-old son. He LOVES rap. His favorites are Kanye, Fitty, Lloyd Banks, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Jim Jones, Lil Wayne, and a few others. I don't know all their names, but I have to tell him to "turn that shit down" ten times a day.

Every now and then I hear a hip-hop song with a great hook that grabs my ear. I do feel that hip hop is an art, I just don't like the negative misogynistic, gangsta rap aspect of hip hop culture. Still, I'm old-school and I remember all the rap pioneers such as Run-DMC, KRS-One, Suga Hill Gang, The Fat Boys, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Professor X, Kurtis Blow, Public Enemy, and Salt-n-Pepa. And yes, I still have my copy of "Rapper's Delight."

..muthafuck him and John Wayne!

LOL, Loved me some P.E. and on the opposite end of the spectrum, NWA.

"Yeah, I'm the dopeman, yeah boy wear courdoroy...money up to here but unemployed.
Keep popping them rocks and my pockets getting bigga....
...yo! Got that 5-0 double up, NIGGGAAA!"

LOL. Raw, truthful and offensive was soooo NWA.

Anybody who considers themself well-rounded doesn't retrict their taste. When it comes to music, most people, including me, like more than one genre. Liking certain Rap cuts doesn't siphon off my appreciation for jazz or R&B or Blues or even the classics.
