but notice what picture they put of Halle Berry on there... It's like they searched for the picture where she looked palest, for a moment, she could pass for an all white woman... thankfully because of the lighting i guess and makeup she is still recognizable in the picture. |

The very sad thing is that Hatshepsut was Egypt's greatest queen and was a lesbian (she did more than just rule Egypt as a "man", as they said).
Her family was from PUNT and she looked like Oprah Winfrey or a thicker Alfre Woodard. But darker than them.
She had one male lover that she loved a great deal--the Nubian general over her army.
NONE of those women should even be considered.
The role should go to Missy Elliott.

IS ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENT FROM HAVING WHITE WOMEN PLAY BLACK WOMEN IN BLACK ROLES, OR HAVING WHITE PEOPLE PLAY BLACK PEOPLE IN BLACK FACE.... ALL OF IT IS BLATANT JIM CROW..........

I agree with Edenson. And since African Americans aren't Egyptians why should they be indignant? Especially since since Egyptians have distanced themselves from black Africans and are probably perfectly satsified with Hallie Berry playing this role. Incidentally, I'm older than any of those you accused of being well up into their 50s. |

Well, excuse me Cynnique. I didn't mean to generalize or put anyone in a box, but I had to get my point accross. I know you understand.
I think Halle Berry would be nice to see on screen as Hapshepsut. She is BLACK and she is beautiful. What more do you all want. Where was all this hoopla when Denzel played X, when Flex Alexander played Michael Jackson, and Angela Bassett played Tina Turner.
First it's get any blacks in the movies and on tv. Then its let's have real jobs in the movies and on tv instead of maids and butlers. Then we get shows like the cosby show, and we say "They're not real. They're so fake." Referring to the doctor and lawyer of the family... Then we say we need MOOOORE blacks on tv and in movies... and guess what??? We got it. Now you're telling me, we got blacks on tv and in the movies, and people are now saying, well those light skinned actors ain't black, so let's get some dark skinned people on tv...
Damn... I said it once before on this board, and I'll say it again... Sometimes you fight so hard that you don't realize the fight is over. Eventually you'll end up fighting yourself...
You can't always have an actor match up with the character exactly. Halle is beautiful and she can bring in the money needed to start this movie, and rake in the doe at the box office. Just be happy that they had a black person on there, no matter what shade.

Uh huh...the same major "anthropologists" and "scholars" who say Jesus Christ was white and the same ones who still physically separate Egypt from the rest of AFRICA and the same ones who "proved" Blacks were inferior to whites based on skull size. I'm not a historian in the "trained" sense of the word, but I'm not that big of a fool. The white/light supremacy you're posing isn't new because its proponents are always trying to steal Black identity to slap a white (or some variation thereof) face on it. We've seen all the blown off noses and altered hieroglyphs/murals where indigenous BLACK populations reigned and resided...and not just in Egypt either. In other words, millions of midnight blue people weren't accomplishing anything for THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of years until the "superior" and "wonderful" genes of nonblacks had to be invented to be introduced into the population....same old shit. Today's Bi-racial Egyptians usually are very dark and look BLACK, just as they always did. They look more like IMAN than Halle Berry.
FACT:

FACT:
The ancient Egyptians--both male and female--kept their heads SHAVED because of "sand" bugs and wore elaborate towering WIGS and head wraps.
This FACT was shown in the film "Prince of Egypt" as several characters would throw off their wigs.
The Congolese and Tanzanians say that they got "WIG-making and WEAVING" from the ancient Egyptians. So do the Greeks and Palestinians.
FACT:
There are more pyramids in SUDAN than in Egypt.
The Nubian and Cushite empires came from "PUNT" in the South index of Somalia. All of the CUSHITIC tribes are still alive and they are all the colors of "charcoal", "deep chocolate" and "dark ebony". They are the PARENTS of ancient Egypt---not the Greeks.
On top of that...the Greeks, the Hebrews, the Palestinians, Abyssinians, Sumarians, Sicilians and all those ancient "light" people were BLACK in ancient times. You only need to visit GREECE right now to see with your own eyes the art works and paintings and murals of the ancient Greeks--not to mention, the Black Virgin Mary that rests on their church altars and whose feet they kiss and call "mother"
It's a dark chocolate Black Doll--but they deny she's black, yet won't take her down.
Queen Hatshepsut was a "phat" lesbian black woman who came from the negroid stick huts in PUNT. She looked like Bessie Smith, only darker--as her "plate" and sculptures fully show.
Anyone who has been to EGYPT and went underground into the Pyramids and looked at the etchings on the wall......will be astonished at just how BLACK the ancient Egyptians were and how the vast majority of the hieroglyph murals are NEVER EVER SHOWN

80% of the "wives" of the Egyptian Pharoahs were from the SUDAN---the Nubian woman (such as King Tut's mother Tiye) being the most numerous.
This proves that the ancient Egyptians came from Cush and Nubia. Why else would they continuously import their Highest Wives from the SUDAN?
And last but not least--USA TODAY presented the "reconstructed" face of Queen Nefertiti, taken from her own mummy.......and the WHOLE WORLD and all the Egyptologists and Scientists in it immediately scorned and discredited the reconstruction---because she was clearly black and looked exactly how we who are Nilotic always said she looked:

I was also told that the Arab officials there have been ACTIVELY destroying the original indigenous images....not just hiding them. Our Ethiopian guide inadvertently mentioned that original images were kept from mainstream/tourist view there as well.

The building of Lake Nuba covered up thousands of Sudanese pyramids and other artifacts that prove that the Egyptians were extracted from the Cush-Nubians.
The Egyptian government did this with financing from the British government.
Arabs and "mixed race" groups in Ethiopia and Eritrea certainly have been destroying evidence for some time now that would link "the darkest blacks" to the creation of Egypt and Axum Empire--and of course, Makeda (Queen of Sheba) was a blue black woman with a bald head and thick features and was considered the most beautiful woman in the world in her day.
People living today can't fathom the idea that "blackness" was once considered a prized beauty.

Halle will be wonderful in the role, she is talented and gorgeous.
As a "light skinned Black woman" myself (I have a Black mom and a White Dad), I am hardly offended by her as the choice to play the beautiful Egyptian queen.
I wonder if Halle will have her head shaved for the role, as the ancient Egyptian women did?
She would look stunning in the bald look with a shaved smooth head! |
