Has anyone here ever read poetry by Mari Evans? I have submerged myself into her writings lately. What are the thoughts out there about her poetry? Rondall |

Bookgirl, I had read Mari Evans' work in the past and I really liked it. Recently I had the blessing of sitting and talking with her. Long story short: she was in a show with my wife and my wife knew I was a fan. Anyway, as a result of this meeting I grabbed another copy of her book "A Dark & Splendid Mass". Having read it before, I was still floored by the power of her writing. She is a treasure, not just to Black writers or poets, but also to anyone placing value on the power of civil protest through poetry. Her story is deep and fascinating. I implore anyone that has not familiarized themselves with the work of Mari should definitely do so. She is as important as any poet of the modern age. website: http://authors.aalbc.com/mari.htm Peace it all together |
