Black Diamond You think that rarely, if ever you’ll see A shiny black diamond of true quality You think only the richest of people will own The beauty and power of this precious stone But, you are mistaken to hold to this thought You carry the shine that you think can be bought For you are the black diamond, just still in the rough Like the stone you admire, you are just as tough You glisten in knowledge and glow with a pride You carry the strength of endurance inside Just like the coal that produces this jewel Blackness embeds the soul core of you Years of abuse and standing alone Have released your beauty, just like the stone The pressures of life have caused you to harden Driving you on, while begging no pardon For just like the black diamond, you too do exist The rarest of gems, at the top of the list You will always hold beauty and always be wanted You can never be owned and idly flaunted Your courage and wisdom will never be taken Your will to survive never mistaken And as the wonders of nature planned it to be The rarest of diamonds will always be free! | ||
